A full RimWorld Ideology 1.3 playthrough in which we try to get to the newly added ending. This is played on the hardest difficulty, Losing is Fun, bumped up to 500%, against Randy Random and not using pause or mods (aside from the mod that makes it so I can't pause etc).

This playthrough was recorded LIVE on Twitch. As such, Adam is speaking with chat throughout. Videos without chat will be listed as 'KZfaq Exclusive'. This is the ENTIRE playthrough, so there will be some episodes in which not much happens, that's just the nature of unedited RimWorld.
*No Pause - Adam is using a mod that disables pause in every portion of the game. This means it is impossible for him to pause with a key press and the game will not pause during events or trade, making things much more difficult.
** Losing is Fun set to +500% is the hardest difficulty in unmodded RimWorld
***Randy is a Rimworld storyteller who is super RNG. Sometimes he is super easy, and other times he is the hardest thing in the game.
**** Lost Tribe is a scenario in which you begin with 5 tribals, some supplies, and 3 random pets. This scenario has very slow research by default.

God your videos are really relaxing, I have ADHD and sleeping is really troublesome sometimes, but lately I've been watching this series and it calms me down and I'm able to "shut down", I then proceed to go back to where I remember and repeat the process next day, thank you so so much for the content, your work has been saving me from going to sleep at 4 am consequentially destroying my work productivity. I'll forever throw my prime sub at you even though I've never been able to catch the live on, I hope to see your channel(s) grow more and more :)

Just passed the "shrieking accident" and thought to myself: man, glad I learned long ago to draft all my pawns when placing grow-zones / cut plants orders near the tree (so that the AI won't auto-select the tree as it's first job before it's set properly). And, what happens (just an hour later) in my fresh colony? Quest from the Empire to attract some mechs, and the EMI Cluster lands around Anima. Ofcourse the Empire troops bring enough firepower, and nearly no shooting skills, and cuts my tree anyways. Damn LMGs 😪

Yeah, sometimes it is unavoidable. A while back I had a pirate breach that grenaded the tree area on their way to a bedroom, for instance. :(

Finally someone who understands that pineapple has enzymes which soften meat and make it tenderized, which is a perfect complement for a meat topping. The actual worst topping is black olives, because hot olives are a bit like congealed olive oil that has been left out in the sun.

Smooth floors and walls raising wealth seems to silly. Raiders: "Hey guys, that cave colony has smooth floors and floors, we should raid them :P" Then again I had to install a mod to make nature beautiful, so meh I guess :P

You're talking about it around 2:48:40 I agree. My man, you deserve to take off if anybody. When I found you here on KZfaq I figured you were doing 1000-1500 on avg. I think you have a little less than that but I'm convinced you'll get there just keep doing your thing. I've also watched a bit of the bounties you do and, it's such a likeable trait that you excuse yourself for going away from your regular content and thanking people that stay. But honestly, you have all the qualities to be somebody that can do variety too even if you have a few main games. Anyway. I got gifted a sub on the channel so I couldn't pay for it myself. You're the first streamer in a couple of years, for me, that I've found and just throughly enjoy watching and listening to and wanted to sub to! You're feel good! Thanks for the super kind words, I really do appreciate it. Until here very recently I was averaging around 200 viewers. It's been really crazy to see the channel explode a bit, or 'take off'. I definitely hope I can get to the point of playing more variety. I enjoy RimWorld of course, but the ultimate dream would be to play just about anything and still be able to support the family. Pineapple is objectively a pizza topping. I worked in papajohns and dominos, and quality aside, pineapple is like top 5 popular topping alongside pepperoni green peppers onions and black olives and mushrooms. I know that's 6 but green peppers and onions is 9 times out of 10 one topping. Pickles was on a popular limited special at papa John's Pineapple pepperoni black olive is a pretty common combination as well

The drama with the Anima Tree is why I don't play on commitment mode :D I stopped playing commitment mode after I lost a few colonies to the stupidest things, like a mis-click causing a complete collapse of my defensive tactics, or just not being able to see some of the 40 rats with Scaria on the screen, and colonists die offscreen trying to run away from a rat they could have squashed under their foot.

There's a mod that adds fuses by the way. I'm not sure if you use it in your other molded runs but it's what I use to avoid that event. They cost a certain amount of steel and components to make so you still have to be light on batteries but it's really nice to get the Zzzt event and then it says that the fuses prevented most the damage

I know this is late, but "igor the invader" does raids ever 3 days or so, that is not quite as constant as you said though, I guess the idea would be to have a super low raid point multiplier, but it grows over time regardless of colony wealth. So you get a raid of 1 person for the first day or two, then again but with a second person after a few 1 person raids. So thinking of the storyteller stats, they would have no cooldown, or miniscule cooldown, extremely likely raids, mostly focused on enemy unit attacks (so you dont get hit by toxic fallout every day for a month in a row) and a scaling based on time mechanic (which actually IS an option in my modded game, not sure which mod... but "wealth independent" scaling is an option in my menu. I think it *could* be done though, a story teller who sends constant tiny incursions that scale up over time, maybe put a super low chance of the weather events so you occasionally have a volcanic winter/toxic fallout/heatwave/coldsnap etc, put the weighting of those at .01 or something miniscule to try and not spawn multiple clashing weather events and things like "zzt" multiple days in a row... cool idea regardless

Smoothing wall adds roughly 25 wealth per wall but give 4 beauty(5 if marble).I will still smooth some of the barracks wall on low wealth just to increase the ease to get higher impressive status.

I usually play super low wealth so hardly ever smooth walls (I usually just plant 0 wealth flowers instead). Going to have to go against that for this playthrough to hit the 350k, though!

By the way I had exactly the same issue with the anima tree and sun lamp (I did waaaay better as I have two sun blockers in the region 😎 for my own tunneler run). So- DO NOT use the “create growing zone” button on the sun lamp… the area is not editable! Set up the growing zone manually from the Zone menu.

After around 2 hours and 10 mins when the slave ship arrives, given how much food you have, would it have made sense to sell the chemfuel (as you can easily make more)? At 2:56:00 you could have sold a lot of pemmican reserves. A stockpile of silver is less wealth than a stockpile of food and could be used in case a trader comes along with maybe strong implants or something alike. Btw, I just reached the part where you mention that you went into content creation full time. Good luck, I wish you all the best on this path. I have to admit I also listen to it while going to sleep, but I enjoy the content a lot.

It's completely irrelevant but what the heck was going on with that Shaman Merchant at 2:25:12 ? They come in with two wargs; caravan members immediately get into a fight with them and both are killed. They get to the base, the pig is slaughtered on the doorstep (por que!?), the cows run away, fearing they are next, the muffalo are freaking out and all this before a man hunting tortoise event. THEN! right as the group is exiting the map tile... Cows Join! The same cows? So confused! Bonus Round: Before they could leave, four caravan members pass out in the front yard due to exhaustion and one ends up dying to a surprise infection in the arm. Upside, you have a new snowman on the lawn. I have never seen that much chaos in one Merchant group. Bravo!

Automatically cutting down that anima tree with no warning seems like a bug. Every time I hastily mark areas to have trees cut and include a "special" tree it warns me with a very pronounced pop-up. Having it not do the same with a grow zone is either a glaring oversight on the part of the devs or an outright bug. And in that sort of situation, save scumming would be justified.

Yeah it seems like all the crazy guns are even stupider with the darkness + shooting specialist setup. SMG, Chain Shotguns, Miniguns, charge rifles, and so on.

you can form a caravan with one of the people you select and keep that caravan. i dont know if Ty will patch it in the future however

Yeah- just be careful with the wealth that creates when you settle anew. I ended up just taking stuff that you really cannot acquire easily like vanometric cell, psychic emanator and the like. Also - wood to accelerate the initial buildings.

Yeah, you can technically get enough gold loaded on elephants or such to go all the way through to the end (of course you still have to make the ally as well as research the archonexus parts, but still). I might do that at some point, for now though I'm going to try not to cheese it too much . :P

One other question - are you allowing game updates during the run, or are you keeping it locked at whatever subversion of 1.3 was being used at run-start?

I've been allowing game updates as I go. Some things have already gotten easier AFTER I did certain parts lol. But it's the way it goes with new DLC and such.

Okay, this might be infeasible due to tight timing requirements, but might drop pods be a way to keep more colonists through the archonexus resets? It depends on how the game categorizes drop pods in flight, but since it takes time for pods to fly long distances you might be able to time the colony obliteration to occur while 3 or 4 pods are en route. Unless I am mistaken, colonists in flight are not technically caravans yet, correct?

Weird question, and I know you aren't there in the run yet, but does anyone know if the short term and long term ramp-up portions of the raid point formula get reset when you buy a map piece?

@@thatotherdavidguy That's one I haven't tested. I think since it resets all of your faction rep and stuff that it probably hits this somehow as well. Again, though, no real idea. Let me know if you end up finding a definitive answer.

@@AdamVsEverything I have a run in reload anytime that is wealthy enough to trade for a map. I can reload that run, wait for a lend-colonists quest, accept the quest, send off my colonists, then buy the map piece, and see if my guys come back in however many days. Anima grass requires sunlight to grow (the tree doesn't, but the grass does). Sunblocker blocked the sunlight.

Will breach raids still break walls if you leave an open path to your base?

Yes. Currently, it seems their are two breach AI's. One of them will target a random sleeping spot or bed when they spawn and then destroy a path to it from where they spawn. The other one seems to be acting crazy and I don't completely understand it yet, lol

Hey dont know if its just me but im hearing a really high pitch whirring sound in the background of ur videos? its more noticable on high volume

I have news on this. In the most recent stream we were troubleshooting it and apparently some people hear it on Twitch and others do not (I do not). We think it has something to do with the audio compressor on certain Twitch servers. I don't know much about it, but people more knowledgeable than me were looking into it. Unfortunately these recordings are pulled from Twitch so they seem to have it as well. Anyway, I am using a fix someone suggested after the most recent stream and will know if it works after the next stream. Unfortunately, though, even if it works, all the recordings of this series up until the last 5 or so will have it. :( Not sure if there is anything I can do about the ones that are already live (or if there is a third-party option).

I've been trying so hard to watch your content but the CONSTANT stream of repeat questions makes it almost impossible. I don't know what was going on during the first stream (eps 1-3 were amazing!) maybe you just had a quiet group but the first **40 mins** of this one was 98% question and answer and 2% actually playing the game. I get that this is a recording of a stream and answering and interacting with the viewers is how you make money but jesus on KZfaq 6 hours of listening to the same questions over and over....

Which is why he's now made commands for FAQs, but Adam does like to talk and explain things to folks as well. Hope you remain patient and continue to watch.

Well, the game is running unpaused during this, and pawns are doing their jobs etc, so if I wasn't responding to the questions being asked I'd just be sitting there talking about something else. Due to it being a stream and not a KZfaq video first and foremost, people are constantly coming in and out. So occasionally they will come and ask a question that has just been answered. This is especially the case at the start of a new stream day (the previous three episodes were all from the same stream). No reason for me being a jerk towards them or what not, so I generally answer it. Then, if something has been asked a ton on a single stream I'll make a clip regarding it and make a bot command to make it easier to deal with for the next stream. I've also been working on timestamps for these for 3-4 hours a night after streaming for 9 hours a day so that people who don't want to hear the whole stream (6 hours on repeat, as you say) can easily click through the chapters instead . There are even hotkeys on mobile and desktop to go straight to the next chapter. But, anyway, I'll continue answering questions to chat that they might have and re-explaining stuff, so if that just isn't for you then no worries, I am sure you can find other RimWorld content. Everyone has their own taste. I actually just got a comment form someone earlier telling me they admired me for being able to answer the same questions over and over without getting annoyed or seemingly tired of it.

@phanCAbe As a connoisseur of Adam's stories (Let me tell you about The Great Pig War and the Legend of Pondscum!) and answered questions ("Well, there are a number of things you can do to keep wealth low..."), I'm all for the talking. I recommend you watch the 20-yrear wealth independent one to get yourself acclimated to it!

While I understand the need for questions - at least the intelligent ones - it seems a lot of people who watch twitch ask ridiculously stupid questions. I do have to applaud Adam for his extreme patience. There is no way I could ever deal with it, for sure.
