I know this is just a cooking/food/ASMR channel but man. This guy's life is my absolute dream. Beautiful house with a gorgeous backyard. Cooking things out in nature. Spending time with the family. Most want all those materialistic things like penthouse suite, designer clothes and sports cars. But for me, this is what I aspire to achieve.

Kanan, I am Sardinian and I have noticed many things in common between your culture and that of mine in Sardinia, an island in the middle of the Mediterranean sea. We also use to beat the still raw octopus before cooking it, in order to defibrate it and make it tender when chewed. Then, the ingredients you use, even if they are not our usual ingredients to cook an octopus, are known to us in the Mediterranean, such as: pepper, celery, carrots, orange and lemon, but also chilli, garlic, onion, dill (which we call wild fennel), bay leaf, etc. etc. Then we use the same technique as you, dipping the raw octopus several times in the boiling broth, making it do a few dips, before releasing it for good to cook, to give it the right tenderness. In short, we have two cultures that are almost completely similar, despite the distance that separates us, and this is also an evident sign of the brotherhood that unites us as human beings, far from the conditioning of religious belief or from one's own political thoughts. I really appreciate your initiative in sharing your experiences and greet you and your family with a cordial greeting.

@@gennisparry4352 This and not only that, it is the basic diet that has made the human being survive, from its appearance on earth until today, of course with the possible variants and additions of legumes, vegetables and fruits of all kinds. Some group of so-called virtuous people, on the other hand, would like to convince other people like most of us, that all this is harmful to the organism. Imitating herbivores as vegetarians or vegans do, I think these, with their way of conceiving nutrition, certainly won't be able to live for long. The human being does not have the same digestive system as goats or horses and I am happy with this, so I can enjoy a nice octopus, cooked in all ways, even like the one shown in this video. My guys in Hawaii never beat the octopus they cooked. They cleaned then boiled then cut them into pieces. Most difficult food I ever learned to eat, but I love them. It's like tough crab. Bright red on the outside and snow white inside.

A man with the perfect palate for the tastiest recipe creations! Yummy! Here in Hawaii, we like to boil it with beer for 20 minutes to tenderize it,, slice into cubes, saute with oyster sauce and simmer in coconut milk. Try it, you might like it too!

I had a trade account with a very nice restaurant when my kids were young...6 & 7 years old. My family ate there a lot and the kids were exposed to comparatively exotic foods. They ate lobster, crab, calamari, mahi mahi and more on a weekly basis. They grew up with palates more sophisticated than many adults in our area. And yet, I no longer consider my palate quite so sophisticated now that I see Kanan's baby girl eating octopus. It took me years of acclimate to calamari. I don't think I'd ever cotton to octopus. Great video!
