I've been vegan for 4 years now, and objectively, I dropped from 88kg to 60kg in the first year (Inseam dropped from 38" to 31"), felt way lighter on my joints, more energetic, needed less sleep. I feel great. Just some considerations: Be sure you're getting B12 (in most fortified food / plant based milk, or supplement), DHA / EPA (Omega-3), Iron (if needed, always take with vitamin C that increases absorption two fold), do your blood work couple times a year, and you're set. And I'd be missing something if I didn't say that eating a meal where animals didn't pay a price, just adds to the flavor of the food. I love Bob & Brad, so humble 💜

I changed to eating whole food plant based/no oil 3.5 years ago at the age of 67. Dropped my cholesterol from 268 to 132, reversed my "pre-diabetes"; blood pressure dropped from 140/90 ON MEDICATION to 110/70 OFF medication...and I lost 85 lbs!!! This stuff works!!!!

It is the no oils in your diet that gave the results. You could have been eating steak and eggs and cheese, no oils, no sugar/ starch. Seed oils are so highly toxic that any diet that eliminates them gives great results. For me, I’ll stick to my steak!

Tried it for a few years. Correctly, medically supervised. Developed diabetes. Developed chronic pain. Developed severe depression. Switched to a whole food ketogenic diet. Lost 175 pounds, normal blood sugar, depression gone, pain gone, feel fantastic! Asthma (present before trying either diet) gone, diabetes in control with zero meds, cholesterol better than ever. Best part, depression resolved without med! It's been 17 years of excellent health.

Wow! Thank you for sharing. I noticed I was gaining weight. I was looking at what was different in my diet and I was eating more cheese. I had arguments with multiple people about it. They said that it was impossible for cheese to cause me to gain weight. When I took cheese out of my diet the weight gain stopped. And this video supports my theory. I also am so grateful that he had a visual to show us. He explained calories in such a way that it makes it easier to understand. Doctors say you have to eat better, or change your diet but they don't explain what to change or what's better.

this was an informative video. I really enjoyed its balanced sensible discussion. I have done all sorts of eating regimes, but what it has come down to for me is I still eat too much. Actually looking at calorie density and portion size has made it plain to me what I am doing wrong. Calorie dense foods are yummy, but so easy to overdose on. I always remember the old adage that the difference between a helpful medicine and a poison is the size of the dose. I eat really healthily, cook everything fresh ever day but I eat too much. I will attempt to remedy this. Thank men for making it easy to visualise.

Its not so much that you should cut it out rather find options to put in your diet to create volume to your diet. Those of us with binge issues could ear something healthy but eat so much of it that it would lead to obesity. Add a massive salad with low calories as a side to your pizza you get the fullness without having to eat a whole pizza which allows you to meet caloric goals and lead to healthy weight-loss without deprivation and hunger pains

I just started a whole foods plant based lifestyle 10 days ago. I sometimes consume plant oils, mostly in small amounts of nuts or seeds; on rare occasion, i use a scant amount of walnut oil or olive oil for flavor. I intend to eat avocados.I eat salad with a flavored vinegar herb dressing. I enjoy plenty of veggies, some fruit, whole grains, and legumes, all of which I love, and I don't feel hungry or crave foods. (I used to be a cheese and dairy fan.) I feel full fast and eat 4 or sometimes 5 times a day. I feel energetic and content. I have lost 4 lb so far. My BMI is 25.0, and I would like to get to BMI around 23.0 within 6 months. In summary, I incorporate fats in my diet, but all are from plant sources and I use them in small quantities.

Debra Phoenix Wampole it is probably whole wheat spaghetti and the bread of made from any of the whole foods and not refined, is allowed. When I changed to wfpb I started making my own breads with different flowers it’s so easy. There are lots of plant based spaghettis too. As wfpb is becoming more popular, obviously the food industry is adapting their products to keep the money rolling in! Just look at the ranges of plant based milks now as one example, so easy to make at home but we still prefer to buy it for convenience. Well I do as I’ve gotten lazy lol.

When trying to lose weight and/or be healthy you have 3 choices for diet:1.) Low carb/moderate protein/high fat. 2.) High carb/ low protein/low fat. 3.)eat whatever you want but keep calories under 2,000. All diets will work. But 1&2 may be the healthier options? Everyone please be safe💓

Oh boy. Lots of "experts" in the comments. I don't believe he ever said to cut out fat completely. He's giving options to reduce fat in the diet which can be very useful for A LOT of people. This was a small, helpful segment about calories and what 500 calories roughly looks like in every food group. This wasn't a complete nutrition program, but a helpful tip. Relax.

I can't eat spaghetti or bread, both caused inflammation. Our brains require fat and healthy carbs/body sugars to function. I think his focus is on calorie density for the purpose of this video. Gave up dairy about a month ago mostly because I finally put 2 and 2 together and realized I'm lactose intolerant. My stomach was constantly turning, gurgling, gassy, bloated, I had daily headaches, tired, joint stiffness, constant nasal drainage which also lead to sore throats, plugged up nose when sleeping which lead to a crappy nights sleep. Cut dairy out and most of those symptoms went away within days others took a bit longer. Getting rid of dairy has been pretty much life changing for me. I use to make fun of people saying how bad dairy was and how humans should not consume it but now I truly believe it.

Good for you Bob and Brad! Thank you for this valuable and informative video. I'm a new subscriber. I have too laugh when people respond to a person describing what calorie density means as being "fat-phobic". I think some people tend to panic whenever they hear someone supporting a whole food plant based diet because for many decades we've all been over saturated with aggressive media advertising touting alleged health benefits of meat and dairy with lots of oil, oil, oil, and the Dept of Agriculture's biased dietary recommendations, so its no wonder that we cant even entertain the idea of consuming anything else. Its good to see this video, as it reflects the current fact that our government has recently been rethinking their history of dietary recommendations and The World Health Organization's recent warning about consuming processed meats is being taken seriously. We need to stop being afraid of change and new ideas. For a country that is so wealthy and powerful, isn't it rather ironic that the US ranks among the top three countries with the highest rate of Cardio Vascular Disease, Diabetes, Stroke, Cancer, Osteoporosis, etc, compared to other countries where these diseases are rare or non-existent but their diet is predominantly unprocessed and plant based. Countless studies over past decades have repeatedly proven this. Check out NutritionFacts.org or read the China Study or Preventing and Reversing Heart Disease. Like other commentators, I too, have switched away from the Standard American Diet due to decades of obesity related health problems and have been consuming a whole foods plant based diet for the past 2 years now. I will be turning 60 in less than 3 months. I too, feel like a teenager since going plant based! No regrets at all, never going back.

I’m a personal trainer. Why didn’t he mention the huge difference in the types of carbs the Eminem‘s are from the lettuce. They are not the same types of carbs. There are healthy carbs and unhealthy carbs. The types of healthy carbs after consumed go to fuel whatever the specific food has in it. Where as the Eminem carbs are make up of nothing nutritional so they body can’t use it to fuel anything resulting in going straight to fat. You can have the same amount of that lettuce in calories as the Eminem’s. Even if you get sugar free Eminem’s (if they exist) you will never gain weight from having even a 5,000 calorie salad-only diet. Because the carbs in the lettuce is so nutritional all’s you would have to do is go for a run for the carbs to be used elsewhere and not turn to fat. I feel like this guy is a tiny bit uneducated on that OR he simply forgot to mention the very important fact that there are healthy carbs and junk carbs that can’t be turned into or used for anything but fat

Besides his take on cheese, all other things appear half-baked. Food is not about just calories and losing weight. It has much more to offer, sadly there is no mention of the mental health that this weightless diet creates. Plus the amount of stress our body goes under when kept under such a rigorous diet. Our body is not just about the aesthetics or looks or shape, there is a mind in their too that needs health, calm and happiness. I do not find much substance in what he has to say regardless of how much "younger" he claims to look. As to me, he looks weak and frail not just physically but also mentally.

I agree with you, I mix balsamic and olive oil for my salads too. I don’t agree with a lot of what he has said here. It may have worked for him and that’s great, but would not work for me. I think extremes are unrealistic, once off a “diet” people often go back to the other spectrum and put on more weight than they lost. I don’t believe in diets, I believe in meal plans, moderation, the combination and amount of foods are the keys. Of course exercise in combination with the right foods can only lead to weight loss and balance. It’s really different and personal for everyone. I’m sorry, giving up cheese? That’s ridiculous, small portions on occasion is the way to enjoy good variety of hand crafted cheeses, and I do.
