I was based at Coltishall in the late 1990`s flying the Jaguar GR3 with 16(R) Sqn, it was a excellent base.

Its a typical RAF base and it just gives me nostalgia, dressed ready for work in my number 2's ready for a shift at the communications centre I loved being in the RAF and this shook up the old memory box there for a few mins.... Thanks.

I absolutely agree it is such a shame. My father was stationed at RAF Colerne and we used to play cricket against Coltishall at Colerne which I think remember was on a pitch off the taxiway, mown for the purpose. Not to be outdone, Coltishall sent No.111 Sqn (Flying Tigers) over the airfield at odd times during the afternoon which had the effect of shortening the match....happy days...

Words fail me .The amount of businesses that must have lost trade when this place closed down,as well as the job losses to the locals who worked there

That siren on the roof of that building at the end of the video has been removed since this was filmed. Hope it found a good new home. also think one of the storehouses elsewhere on the site had a siren; whether that still exists, who knows

Google Earth shows that most of the open space is now a huge solar farm. HMP Bure is also on the site. It looks like the runway is still open!

Im ex RAF and I cant watch all these videos of our bases being demolished for HOUSES! FFS how many million houses do we need? No one can afford a mortgage anymore so.............. I guess its for all the immigrants we're expecting? So sad. The world is the closest its ever been, now to WW3 and we have an air force with about 50 aircraft and 10,000 staff!😔
