Simply an amazing show. The brass is ON POINT and the music showcases the raw talent of the entire group. And this choreography is absolutely INSANE. I don't think I have ever seen a colorguard this precise and crisp, and I love the way the hornline and colorgaurd interact with each other.

6:25 If memory serves, I think this is the only moment where Michael Klesch wrote an ensemble moment where the lead trumpet plays something above a high D. I've heard that Klesch writes "Trumpet 1 books, not Lead Trumpet books." and I can definitely understand why. This is probably the only true "screamer trumpet" moment within Crown's history as DCI's greatest brassline, and that says something about Klesch's confidence in the lead's ability to deliver on that top split that year.
@txman27611 ай бұрын
I’ve never followed Crown’s trumpet books that close. Are their ever screamers/upper leads in Crown’s hornline or is it all Trumpet 1? Now that you mention it, I don’t remember much stuff above a D or so in their books ever (maybe an F on a Concert Eb chord, but even then, perhaps it’s an overtone I hear).

Actually in 2009 Crown had a screamer trumpet at the end of the “Puck One” section of the show (around the part where the guard girl pushed the drum major off the podium). But you’re definitely right Klesch definitely prefers a well rounded orchestral type of brass arranging. Compared to the blue devils have a lot of jazz of jazz adjacent arranging which calls for screamers
