i have childhood memory of Kamal Barot. She was born in Dar es Salaam. She and her family lived in the same building as my Uncle and aunt. In the mid to late 1950s she toured Dar es Salaam with her musical group. Our small town called Kilosa just had a brand new Cinema opened where Nagin was first film to screen. Kamal Barot with her group visited Kilosa and gave musical performance. I still remember one of the song she sang with her male singer was 'Masti bhara hey sama ....' From the film Parvarish. It was the best song that night. After the show the group returned to Dar es Salaam. I was fortunate to travel with the group and was sitting next to Kamal Barot on two seater seat throughout the journey. Those days it was all day journey. That memory has not gone away after 60+ years. I would love to meet up with her and discuss those memorable days.

कमल बारोट जी से करीब २००२ में मिलने का अवसर प्राप्त हुआ था उनके मुंबई के उस समय के घर जब वो यूके से भारत आई थी। उन्होंने पार्श्व गायिका के अलावा रेडियो विज्ञापन की दुनिया में स्व बालगोविंद श्रीवास्तव जी और स्व शील कुमार जी के साथ काफ़ी काम किया है । उनके विज्ञापन और रेडियो प्रोग्राम्स पहले रेडियो सिलोन पर और बाद में विविध भारती विज्ञापन प्रसारण सेवा के मुंबई केंद्र कुछ कुछ साल पूना और नागपुर के सहप्रसारण में भी आते रहते थे । सुंदर प्रस्तुती।

गायन और, संगीत मे विविधता और विशेष शैलियां फिल्म संगीत की पहली विशेषता रही है। नूरजहां, लता , और बाद मे आशा के गायन शैलियो की तूती बोल रही थी, संगीतकारो को इनसे भिन्न शैलियो की भी आवश्यकता थी, ताकि एकरसता से उबाऊपन उत्पन्न न हो। इसलिऐ, जहां शंकर-जयकिशन शारदा को लेकर उत्साहित थे, वही,कल्याणजी-आनन्दजी , कमल बारोट को लेकर। शमशाद-बेगम भी ऐसी ही नयी आवाज थी, जिसका प्रयोग विशेष गीतो के लिऐ किया गया। सुमन-कल्यानपुर को लता से प्रतिस्थापित करने की अनेको अवसर पर कोशिश की गयी। इसमे एक नाम वाणी जयराम काफी लिया जा सकता है। जिसकी आवाज विशेष गीतो के अनुकूल थी। लेकिन लता की आवाज जो अत्यन्त प्रयोग की जा सकती थी, किसी भी फिल्म से दूर रखना, फिल्म की सफलता पर प्रश्न-चिन्ह लगा सकता था। लता के महत्व के आगे किसी भी अन्य गायिका को नही रखा जा सकता था, इसलिऐ आशा और बाद मे सुमन को छोडकर अन्य गायिकाऐ डिफरेण्ट फिलर के रूप मे व्यवहृत की गयी । लता और आशा के ऊंचे कद के कारण कहा जाता था कि इन्होने अन्य गायिकाओ के साथ कुनीति का प्रयोग किया। क्या सच मे ऐसा था ?

i heard kamal barot,s songs much later around 90,s kamalji,s voice was very quaint and very likeable her song a soloa from a b grade film ramu dada suna hai jabse mausam hai pyar ke kabil which i heard recently was MINDBLOWING sadly kamalji never got her due her brother chandra barot gave one of the biggest hit films of seventies DON my best wishes to this great singer

Thanks for such a nice presentation on ms Kamal Barot Ji. Though you played the song Kitna Haseen mera piya haye ala, but you did not mention it in her songs . This is very sweet song from the film Sunehra Jaal, released in 1966 and starring Randhava and Vijaya Chaudhary.
