It was directed by famous fashion designer Tom Ford, who had to finance it himself, as it was his directorial debut. The film stars Colin Firth as the protagonist George Falconer, a gay British university professor living in Southern California in 1962.

This is the second time that the Academy does not recognize the mastemind of Abel Korzeniowki. Both his wonderful scores to A Single Man and W.E. were nominated at the Golden Globes but at the Oscars he has not been nominated. Shame on the Academy! This score is a masterpiece and Abel is one of the best living conductors when it comes to scoring music for movies. God Bless him!

a truly great and touching film... loved Colin Firth's quiet, subtle performance. there's a deep melancholy to his character that finds perfect expression in the soundtrack I think

This film is so fucking perfect: they way George's day is told, the character of George perfectly performed by Colin Firth, the whole cast, the photography, the colors, it's own style, and suddenly you find yourself listening this beautiful score that basically resumes all the film and you just can't do anything else than cry hard because of the beauty sadness of this masterpiece.

Just watched this film, 'A single man', where has it been hiding? What a find! My heart was so moved by it and it shows that we humans are not islands, we do need each other. I have now to add this ost to my list of music, it bowled me over. I cant seem to express how it got to me. I want everybody in the world to see it and listen with their hearts to the music, if it dont get to you then your dead inside. For Elliott my son, I love you. Dad x

It's one of the most incredible soundtracks I've ever heard and I listen to a lot of them. Not only it should have been nominated but it should have been awarded. I don't get how they could ignore it while, especially lately, they nominate less and less composers for O.S.Ts and most of the times their music is nowhere near as beautiful as this one...

Colin Firth the epitome of class and talent... love this very touching and beautiful movie....and its music too....when I listen to it, I still see their beautiful faces...and the events in their lives.....such a great movie....Oscar deserving...

This movie is poetry....the music is beyond touching to the heart and perfectly matches Colins brilliance....i tear up every time i see that film or hear this music

Normally I would agree with you but the Academy takes every chance it gets to promote LGBT films, and with this being one of them I just think it was snubbed. Maybe they didnt promote it to reviewers enough. Who knows, it's all very political so I'm not claiming that it wasnt acknowledged for that reason, it just feels unlikely. I'm almost glad it didnt win. Abel belongs to us die hard fans now

Is that a joke? "the academy takes every chance it gets to promote LGBT films" Granted, Moonlight won the oscar, but Carol was snubbed, Brokeback Mountain was snubbed - and they are up there with the great films of the 21st century

It's indeed a pitty that the Academy didn't recognize/appreciate the value of this music..people will do instead!!! When i heard it first time i felt i would be sick if i wouldn't listen to it again and again..it touches every mm of your soul, body and mind..you would say god wrote this music himself..there are no words to describe the feelings it awakes or brings out in you..it makes you cry..an endless,breathtaking harmony and sensuality in this music..only a genius could have written it!!
