A study, mostly chronological, of the life of Nick Drake (1948-1974). Gabrielle, his older sister, tells us of her brother's birth in Burma, childhood in Warwickshire, life at Cambridge and in London, then back to his parents' home in Tanworth. His parents describe his habits and personality.

What a beautiful man Nick Drake was. His talent and his story will never be forgotten. I hope one day to see a feature film about this amazing talent. Good bless you. Rest in peace. ❤️🙏.x

What a family filled with talent, along with Nick his mother Mary was a wonderful song writer and his sister an actress .

How beautiful his music was. He was a composer, who just happened to use the guitar as his voice. For him to try and entertain a bar seems like the ultimate hardship for him. His inability to find his audience or community seems the saddest part based on how much the future would embrace him, but for him, a bit late. Ultimately we see insignificant things become legendary after the great judge time leaves its mark. He left his mark yet his eyes show he was not happy about the silence all around him. Now we can thank his spirit for being so far ahead and mourn for the loneliness that must have brought him.

Why did they put so much stuff over his amazing guitar they should release his songs with just Nick.

I didn't come across Nick Drake's music until the mid 90s from a compilation album called 'Children of the Revolution', which I still have. I met Gabrielle Drake back in the late 80s, when I worked at Fortnum & Mason, she was a condescending, dreadful snob and was enquiring if there was any VAT on biscuits? When I confirmed there was no VAT on these food types, she gave me a glare of disdain! Nick Drake was a talented composer and lyricist, but not much of a singer IMO, his vocal range is limited. I always got the impression he was a bit self indulgent and not self disciplined enough to be a successful musician, but I do have and love all of his three albums. 📀🎵🤗

Please don’t make a bio film. They’re never any good, no one’s figured out how to make a decent rock bio, always the same formula.

@@sly7642 I agree. Example the Bob Marley bio pic would have been better as a documentary at the film level meaning exceptionally well produced. Nick was such a rare soul and artist he doesn't deserve the mediocre bio pic. This work has me in tears. It's wonderful.
