Lolz.its great but it sounds exactly the same as the year they came out hahaha
@cummywummy28962 жыл бұрын
@@josephsteiner8650 I mean yeah and no. There's definitely a similarity to other Post-Hardcore bands from the time. To me A Skylit Drive sounded like those bands with less of the scene stereotypes in the music and the sound has its own aesthetic personality beyond being emo or Risecore. Not to mention you really won't find riffs and vocals that hit like this other than Saosin with Anthony Greene and even then they're clearly not the same It sounds like the musical equivalent of exactly what Jordan is inspired by: Soul Calibur and imo a very strong Final Fantasy and general anime vibe. It carried over into Wires pretty well but after that they lost that bit of something and the rest of their music is boardering on very dated metalcore
@thelastsith27062 жыл бұрын
@@josephsteiner8650 not even close. The closest sounding album is Oceana’s early stuff, maybe the first Woe album. Not many hardcore bands were putting pretty melodies with breakdowns and also utilizing it for pure atmosphere buddy.

It's crazy seeing this cuz ASD was absolutely HUGE in the valley during this time. I'm from Stockton and they played Empire Theater here that same year and it was crazy. People were lined up to see the show. So proud of these local boys.

What id give to see them again with this line up. This video gives me mad nostalgia… I still remember the entire band trying to sneak me into a venue I was “suspended” from. Ahha good times 🥲

So happy with the comeback! Just to give anyone watching a different perspective. This music reaches out beyond a small niche of the stereotypical look. I remember listening to this album flying in a small rotor plane threw the beautiful mountains of southwest Afghanistan. I was on a Special Forces Operational Detachment -Alpha on my ninth trip. Wearing jeans, t-shirt, chucks and a Glock on my hip. My team gym would have this and a similar soundtrack blasting in the gym 24 hrs a day. It was like a dungeon in there. A Mexican teammate called this music “El Diablo!!” I still have that playlist on my iTunes. He joked at first, but later someone tried playing something else in there and he was like, “WTF is this shit! Put Diablo back on!”

Jordan never should’ve left. We didn’t get to see his full potential. Jag is talented, but Jordan was a better fit. His screams and cleans would’ve influenced a more post hardcore sound like it was meant to be. RIP to the true frontman of A Skylit Drive
