I 100,000% agree about slingshots. Steering wheels - CHECK, Seat belt - CHECK, Bucket seats - CHECK, Does not require an "M" endorsement - CHECK. I DO love that they want to participate in ride events - they can line up in the very back and, if allowed, they can block traffic on the route.

Agreed on slingshots. I consider CanAms as bikes though. On the topic of pride, a Harley is a dream bike for a lot of riders, so when they finally achieve it, it's only right that there is a sense of pride in their accomplishment. I felt it when I got my dream bike and still feel it every time I swing a leg over and fire it up.

I tend to classify a person and not the vehicle. There are many "motorcyclist at heart" that do not ride on two wheels. They are part of the community in my mind.

LmBo))) Enjoyed your eloquent verbiage on said topic. As a HD rider more than often I have seen SlingShot driver whip up on a bike event, park with motorcycles only to be asked to move to the general parking area with cars. And that’s when the chaos begins. 😮

I 100% agree. i always wear all of my gear including full leather jacket. I don't care how hot it is. I dress for the slide not the ride. I agree about the Slingshot and similar auto vehicles are Not motorcycles, but I get the idea that the insurance company's don't have a category for them. So my guess is they put them in motorcycle. The only exception that I could understand passing deuces too is someone with disabilities who is unable to even ride trikes that wants to get out there on the open road.

Sensei I'm happy that you are coming over to the astronaut side (ATGATT). Makes lots of sense. I don't judge people who don't wear all the gear its a choice. Back on the Ja. I wore some of the gear (helmet, gloves and jacket) and people would look at me funny. Now I agree Slingshots are not Motorcycles. Trikes based on what I know are usually bikers that have some issue that they now need a third wheel to remedy. Anyway curious to see the riding shoes you choose

I do agree. I ride a Roadglide and I brought my wife a Slingshot which is an Autocycle. Don't get me wrong though, I enjoy driving her Slingshot. They are a lot of fun. You should try it.

Slingshot are cool but they arent motorcycles. I went to Sudos one week and a sling shot was trying to park in the 2 wheel only parking and he was asked “politely” to move.

Slingshots are definitely not motorcycles, and I have trikes in my garage. Some 2 wheelers get uppity about trikes but I am just as exposed as any bike. From the rear seat forward it's all motorcycle. Same engine, same handlebars, same front wheel. Only difference is a third wheel in back for extra stabilization. A Slingshot is more like a chopped down car. Far more enclosed than a bike, side by side seat belted seats. It's more a convertible car than a motorcycle. No doubt that they are fun but far from a motorcycle. When my husband got his TriGlide last year first thing he got was protective gear for both of us. Helmets, jackets, boots & gloves. He is fanatical about making sure we are fully geared up before riding.

You can't say that thier not a part of the community. Reason 1. How do you know if they don't ride bikes also are have riding them so long they just want something different for health (back leg) reason. Reason 2. U can be a part of the motorcycle community and not have a vehicle period. Loving motorcycles don't mean you have one just like having one don't mean you love them

Because as I stated earlier. I had a T. rex 2010 and a slingshot is basically a larger version. And you'll never hear someone say a T. rex ain't a motorcycle

I would never ride with a slingshot rider, I don’t know if I been unlucky but every time I see a group of the slingshot riders they are acting like fools and doing unsafe practices. They aren’t motorcycles and to me they are just a glorified go cart.

I agree with you 100%. A slingshot is a car missing one wheel. I feel the same way about Can-AMS. These vehicles can't lean in the twisties and the operator doesn't have to demonstrate riding skills in slow traffic. A true motorcycle is two wheels only.
