In 1966, Yves Saint Laurent dressed models in a black tuxedo with a sheer blouse to walk the runway of Haute Couture in Paris. It was the year he introduced LE SMOKING. In the end, this garment became “the look” of the House and the Nr. 1 most beloved item of the Designer.
Today we can have the TUXEDO DRESS from the Saint Laurent House or a different interpretation from other luxury designers and fashion houses, but also from middle market brands:
1/ Saint Laurent www.ysl.com
2/ luxury on-line multi-branding stores:
Luisa Via Roma www.luisaviaroma.com
Matches Fashion www.matchesfashion.com
Farfetch www.farfetch.com
Net-A-Porter www.net-a-porter.com
3/ designer outlets and thriftet stores
4/ mass market brands like ZARA, SINÉQUANONE, YOOX, NICE THINGS, and more.
This garment became a STATEMENT PIECE in the wardrobes of many women around the world, a classical garnment for powerful, independent, and emancipated women.
This is a small history of the creation of LE SMOKING DRESS and his author, the famous designer Yves Saint Laurent, but also a few insigts on where to find the best models and with what is best to pair it (in my opinion).
Have a great time!
Best wishes,
