My cat on the other hand had an issue with bowls and I started feeding him on a plate. Come to find out some cats hate bowls because their whiskers. I think the dog loved him so much it wanted to smell him on his food. Idk.🤷🏼♂️

While serving in the army, my duty was to stand guard in a windowless tower at -20C in a blizzard. High danger target, huge remote location, limited resources and allways on full alert. We had a squad of guard dogs (mostly german sheppards) but they were the ones who decided when and where they would patrol. They came and went by our posts all day long. During a very bad storm, a mostly solitaire dog Aka that nobody managed to befriend, climbed up the vertical stairs to my tower and sat on my feet without me even calling her. Needless to say that my feet were frozen solid and i couldn't even feel them. She sat there for hours, untill my time was up. In return, i made sure the snow wouldn't cover her and gave her a few pats from time to time. From that day on she was MY patrol dog and everybody was surprised i managed to train her. When in fact, she chose me.

My dad didn’t talk a lot about his time in Vietnam. But when he passed away, we found some letters that he had wrote to his dad (my grandpa) and in several of the letters, he talked about a dog he had kind of adopted. You could tell by the tone of the letters that the dog was very special to him. I can only guess, but I believe that the dog may have been his way of maintaining his humanity, in the hell hole that was Vietnam.

That over sized canteen cup wasn't big enough. That is why the dog wanted to eat out of the helmet. Regardless of what canteen cup they used in the short. That is why bowls for large dogs are so large. The correct size bowl should be approximately 4 times larger than the amount of food served. Which is what the helmet would be and not a canteen cup.
