Burnell Russell is not a household name amongst NHRA Top Fuel fans, but is held in high regard among those who have raced in the class. Burnell's son Darrell, was one of the sport's up and coming superstars until he lost his life while racing at the 2004 NHRA Craftsman Nationals outside of St. Louis.
Darrell's brother Chris was an integral part of his brother's racing endeavors as well as Burnell. Burnell helped his sons realize their dreams of drag racing. For six months, Chris had devised a plan to give back to his father who had so selflessly supported his boys.
Chris purchased a ride in Larry Dixon's two-seat dragster for Burnell, and for several months did what he had to do to keep the prized gift from his dad. In this video from CompetitionPlus.tv, watch as the plan unfolds.
