In this video I build a set of treads and risers for a staircase remodel. The treads are almost entirely made from strips of reclaimed pallet wood. The risers are a mix of curly maple and red oak, bartered and reclaimed from a friend who was doing a house build/remodel.

I drill the nail holes as well and depending on the project put a dowel in the hole. You can ruin a blade in the planer if you don't. Great project and well done. Thank you.👍

Do you have any idea how many Thousands of nails you must have pulled to make your projects? Lots of work but great outcome.

An incredible workload - perfectly done ! How much time did you spend on just denailing, squaring and ripping ?

kindof thinking about making a countertop the same way , but want to slant the pieces at a 45 degree angle , that way i dont get seams on the L shaped top to reduce cut off im planning to make beams first that are about 4 to 5 layers and as long as i can make them , allso thinking about having the slats only planed on one side at first and gluing the layer on one at a time and then run to beam with the unfinished side through the planer , this should reduce the chance of gaps deu to uneven thickness and keep the seams straight once i have made a few of these beams i plan to cut the at an angle and glue the pieces together to make bigger pieces that still fit through the planer , the bigger pieces together with bisquits and then sand the lats of the edges off no the whole one piece countertop will be too big to clamp having the pieces at an angle will make the shift anyway you i figured to put treaded rod though the whole thing end to end and clamp it together that way , should allso allow it to be handled without crackinf the gluejoints still thinking about the finish though as in needs to be hard and somewat foodgrade , epoxy would work but would be pretty expensive , might go for two pack clearcoat

Aren't the treads supposed to go down first then risers on top? or does it matter?

I really have no idea honestly!. I designed them to go back in the same way that the original treads and risers were installed.

If you insist on using metal fasteners, instead of the multitudinous alternative methods one could use to keep them together whilst the glue dries, why not use 23 gauge pins instead of 18 gauge brads?

You nicked the wall. I hope you fixed it. Your tread was to tight.

Maybe you should pick less work intensive projects so you can make more videos, mo vids mo money 💰 😅

If those work intensive projects are done for Paying Customers, then that works out to be Mo Money than the videos.😀
