Your Dutch facts are wonderful and this one was fascinating. I have a friend who is Dutch and we talk about her country so I'll bring this up to her. In San Francisco, there are areas near the coast that were also filled in to make land. This land is not the most stable stuff especially in earthquake country. The history of this land reclamation is very interesting.Thank you for sharing.

There is another big project related to a different flooding in the west of the country, along the north Sea. That's known as the delta works. That may have been what the documentary was about.

I'm going to bake a dessert in celebration of the return of your stitchy bug. However, I live alone, so I'll also be eating 100% of said dessert, so that's on you, lol. I love that your renewed excitement for our craft is almost palpable through the screen :)! Also, just wondering, is there a translation for "brain fart"? Heehee. Your English is certainly comprehensive :). Oh, I'd love a copy of that exhibit book to keep displayed on my coffee table, and I've never really been one for that sort of thing :). I want to read every book you mentioned, except The Miniaturist, lol. Thank you for the "Ted Talk" :). Full-coverage backsides are design-worthy! Lol. Stay safe and happy.

I enjoyed your video much. My family was in the air force and stationed in Germany in 1953, and I have inherited many photos and paintings of The Netherlands from visits. I especially love the water color paintings and I loved learning the facts from your "TED talk" . I plan to check out a few of the books you recommend, thank you for taking your time for us. I hope to see another video soon. I love all things textile, and so your love of those things speaks to me as well. Take care and see you soon I hope.

Anatolia is spectacular. It looks just like an antique tapestry. All of your pieces, as always, are exquisite. I’ve never read Jane Eyre so I ordered it on Audible. Love a good listen. So good to spend time with you today, sweet friend, I miss your face. 😘. By the way, awesome TED talk. I love learning new things about your culture and history!!

Thank you Ingeborg for sharing your finishes and WIPs. Always beautiful and inspiring; I have a stoplap pattern somewhere, finding it and trying it out is on my bucket list. And as usual, I really enjoyed the extra information. There are huge gaps in my knowledge about the Netherlands so I always love hearing you talk and explain things. Please keep up the TED talks! (Or should it be NED talks). Happy stitching, Diane 😘

Have you seen Jacob from Modern Folk Embroidery's interview with Dorothee Kandzi? They talk about Dutch and German samplers and how the when the Germans wanted to build dikes they went to the Dutch. It's episode 12 and it's great.

Great to see you again! it's been a long time. your wips are beautiful. I really enjoyed your Dutch facts segment but I wondered if that is why the windmills were used...to pump the water out? Is that why The Netherlands have so many windmills? Please don't wait so long before another video!
@AStitchTooFar
@AStitchTooFar 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, many of the mills in the Netherlands are for pumping the water. If you see any near a town however, they are most likely grain mills.
