I think the stone paper might be really good for markers, since the ink would stay wet for longer and be easier to blend. You would have to be careful about smudging, but I bet you could get some amazing color blends.

Hey Peter, massively minor detail I noticed while watching your video: the chess board is in the wrong orientation. It should be rotated 90 degrees either way. When you sit at a chess board there should always be a light square in the bottom right of the board. P.S. I'm insanely jealous of that tiny chess board that thing is awesome.

The raised embossing is actually kinda neat, like art for the visually impaired. Otherwise, I've drawn on media like that where the ink never dries. Usually I had to end up using a wax or oil based method of laying down a line kinda like the old school underwater scuba divers, marine biologists and oceanographers that document different things on plastic films. I do agree though the back of your drawings was pretty interesting as far as silverlinings go for your annoyance with the medium. I laughed when you mentioned someone saying they're a good person. Especially after a long lecture once on selling yourself and personal presentation in an effort to obtain work or whatever because virtually every interaction is an interview for something, potentially, anyway. Maybe if they say it enough they will become it. I always find my main selling point is I'm not the world's worst person, that I know of, yet. Thanks for the video, good luck with classes, take care.

with watercolors you can get effects on stone paper otherwise impossible on normal paper. The colors stay more vibrant also. But leaving it in direct sunlight will slowly dissolve it. In a sketchbook it won't dissolve.

I keep going back and forth on whether or not I want to get the stone paper. On one hand, it's not biodegradable, but neither is the yupo or the mylar that I use so idk. It might be fun to do some mixed media with, especially with the embossing element. At the end of the day it's just chalk and glue so I'd also kind of like to try to make some but I probably won't because ADHD hyperfocus doesn't last long

I recently started looking for a good pen set to replace the set I use now. One priority is the pen bodies must be capable of utilizing the BIC Velocity 1.6mm ink inserts, which I find offer the smoothest writing experience. One friend suggested I try stone paper to help accomplish smoother writing, and told me they sell such notebooks at Walgreens. I scoured my city, found the notebooks and bought one, but my reaction was similar to yours: not impressed. One thing you did not mention was how heavy the sketch book was. I joked to my friend that when I placed my single stone paper notebook in the back of my Jeep 4x4, my rear suspension bottomed out. Seriously?! Does this new paper need to be THAT heavy?

As someone about to have an environmental science degree, stone paper seems less eco friendly than regular paper. It is easier to grow trees than create rocks. Bamboo paper could be more sustainable, or sourcing paper from forests not being destroyed. But rock quarries involve a lot of equipment that used a lot of fuel and digging huge holes in the ground to get to the rocks. Plastic is also awful for the environment. So this whole concept makes no sense. Plastic is a product made from natural gas, and this is recyclable but probably not in this form and only 8% of what gets recycled is actually recycled anyways.
