Hi Ken, Yes the little river is cold but the water is quite pure to drink. Temps went down to zero C at one point and we had ice on our tents. A long winter ahead I guess but I love all the seasons . Noel is an Oldster too. He is over 70 but still enjoying the outdoors:) Sandy

Watched Part 1 and 2. Beautiful moorland countryside, thanks for shearing the beauty of Exmoor. I also found it very interesting when you showed and talked about the different tents and equipment each of you lads were using. Even got me thinking, perhaps I'd like to try a wild camp on Exmoor.

Sandy I've watched a few times and each time it seems to get better, so I feel that I ought to leave a comment. I love your footage of the wild scenery, you really do capture the atmosphere of the moor to the point that I actually feel like I'm on the walk with you guys. This is deffo on my hit-list for 2020. Regarding your tents, I've watched so many tent reviews but each time I come back to the HexpeakV4a. It's light and if the weather is bad, it allows you to sit up in the dry and comfortably cook inside. Hillybergs are good but in rainy weather you're pretty stuck for space and cooking, so my new tent for 2020 will be the Hexpeak - another great video Sandy!

Another great vid sandy. we could debate whos the best and worst camping vid maker on ere till the cows come home (pun intended). But you are without a doubt the most chilled, (weather related pun). i'd never heard of a 'cattle check' till now. slept in a cow shed one time, with cows. on the understanding we would all wanna sleep. The cows came home alright, but were up all night chatting like teenagers. i made a decision that day, take a tent, never mind how much it weighs. Keep the vids coming, ive said before, you and Abbie barnes are my ridgeway inspiration. its on my list to complete the whole thing, ive done ivinghoe - watlington so far. gonna do the rest soon as possible. I spent a New Year in Devon once, and we went for a wander on Exmoor, it's a nice part of the world. It's interesting what you were saying about the quietness. I've been a lifelong sufferer of tinnitus, and I find that the natural environment is the one place I scarcely notice it.
@WiltshireMan
@WiltshireMan 6 жыл бұрын
Hi Rob, I have suffered tinnitus for around 30 years. It is awful! I had a tumour on my acoustic nerve (acoustic neuroma) that is the cause of my tinnitus. hearing loss and facial paralysis. But as you say, in the natural environment I can still appreciate quietness:)

Thank you Sandy for a nice video, you are lucky in the fact that you can cook in your tent, in my part of the world here in BC you can not do that because the large number wild animals we have black bear, grizzly bear, and big cats.when I am in the back country I use a 100 yard triangle, tent, cooking, and gear stash I even change in tonight clothes for sleeping taking off any thing I cooked in or ate in. we have one of the largest numbers of black bear, grizzly, and big cats in the world. I am in my late 60's, have never carried a gun, and most times no bear spray, I have been doing this for over 50 years, just don't do dumb things and always pay attention.

Didn't we have a luverly time, the day we went to Exmoor? The rain, the hail, the howling gale - what more could four men need? We tramped all day, we slept all night - and then we cooked our breakfast. Enough fresh air to last a week - a jolly time indeed! Where to next? Noel
