Very interesting mixed bag of books you have to read! I always look forward to your uploads. BTW, I bought and read The Wager and LOVED it. It's so tragic but so well written and researched. Thanks for recommending it!

I always see those Robin Cook books on your shelf and wonder which ones you've read and which you liked. I find or feel at least that he doesn't get talked about as much today. I have Shock but haven't read it yet.

Duncan Ralston - author of Woom - recently published a novel with a controversial 3 word title, the second two words of the title consisting of "Island Bloodbath". You briefly mentioned it in an earlier vlog and I was wondering if you have gotten around to it yet?

Suspect that the best of the bunch will be Ian McEwan's The Cement Garden which - for a debut novel - is an understated masterpiece that will echo in your thoughts for a long time.

Omg Blender Babies is MY FAVORITE!! It is the first Splatterpunk/Extreme Horror book that made me feel genuine panic and horror!!! You HAVE to put it in one of your “disturbing book review” videos so we can see what you think!! ❤(side note, I have yet to be disappointed by a Jon Athan book! I just finished “The Groomer” by him and it too was fantastic!)

Ohhhhh! I didn't realize he was the one that wrote that! I've seen a lot of people talk about how disturbing it was.

@@AndaKent “The Groomer” was quite disturbing and the beginning was especially hard to get through, but I feel like the plot was just phenomenal. It honestly played more like a film for me in my head. It had star quality in my opinion. 🤩

In 1975 the late Martin Amis wrote a novel entitled Dead Babies (actually more of an Agatha Christie spoof) but was forced by the publisher to change the title to Dark Secrets. Available now under it's original title.

Cement garden was one of a few books I've left with no rating whatsoever. It's interesting from a literary and drama standpoint with a shit ton of trauma on top, but for me personally it was a bit too much. Though after that I've read a ton of splutterpunk, so it's actually not that disturbing and offensive, espesially after something like "Cows" or "His pain". I think Anda will either like it or hate-like it like I did) Nice haul and great video like always!

Of all the books on your list, possibly the most disturbing of all was the one you briefly mentioned in passing..."Wuthering Heights" by Emily Bronte which reads like a deranged fever-dream of obsessive passion and madness.

The Cement Garden by Ian McEwan is a great book. It was his first novel ( I think published in 1975) and still my favorite novel of his. Ian McEwan is one of England's foremost writers. He wrote Atonement (about the battle of Dunkirk, the first battle of WWII) which was made into a movie with Kira Knightley. I'm not going to say what The Cement Garden is about, but it is defintely modern literary Gothic and I would highly recommend it.

I have a house 🏠 of horrors to tell you about in my town on Monday the police went into a house for a welfare check about a brother and sister who were both in their late seventies the police came across the front yard full of rubbish and dead rats and possums were giving off a really nasty smell but that was nothing when they went into the house they found a 75 year old sister who was sleeping in the same bed as her brother who happened to be dead for at least 5 years and a minimum of 2 years and she had no idea that he was dead and the house was full of rats and dead possums and the neighbours had no idea 🖤🖤🖤

Recently read Blender Babies. The concept is gruesomely compelling but unfortunately the writing rapidly becomes boring and repetitive. Would have been far more effective at half the length.

my heart is a chainsaw was one of the ABSOLUTE WORST piece of GARBAGE I've ever read and I've been reading for over five decades...tedious, repetitive, in the suspension of disbelief dept., it isn''t sure what line of "logic" it wants to follow, leaving MASSIVE holes in the "plot" (such as it is) leaving developments/questions unanswered...you can put me at the top of the I HATED THIS BOOK list...thanks for the vids/reco's!
