@@helpponimi7821 I don't know. I thought so because one person helping in the war wouldn't have changed much imho. And also because of your history with Sweden I thought maybe it was sarcasm thanking them. But anyways, I'm not either Finnish or Swedish, so I don't really know. Sorry if I sounded disturbing.

@@malolelei3937 Ok I guess I get that. Where are you from btw? But yeah Sweden helped us immensely with the weaponry they sent us and with the volunteers and we really do appreciate that. And also while we were ruled my Sweden us Finns were never treated that bad and there had been only one instance of rebellion against the Swedish crown by Finns even through they ruled over us for more than 700years. We kind of see Sweden as an annoying brother I guess. But yeah thanks for asking it’s nice that someone’s interested in Finland in that way considering our insignificance :D

As russian I feel much more respect to Finland than to ukraine. Because Fins and their culture is one of the most ancient. They are our historical neighbors, and we have the same historical lands. At the same time more than 60% of "Ukrainian culture" is russian culture, Ukrainian lands is historicaly Russian lands, all Ukrainian cities are built by Russians. Ukrainians are historicaly poor

As a Fin, I must correct one thing. That Turku fire did happen, but was not the reason the capitol was switched over to Helsinki. Those events were merely happening around the same time frame. Capitol was changed in 1812 and Turku fire happened at 1827, so the fire could not have been the reason. The real reason was, that Russians did not like the fact that Finland's capitol Turku was so close by to their mortal enemy Sweden, so they moved it.

I must just add the point that Finland was not an opressed part of Sweden. It was as much a natural part of Sweden as other swedish territories outside Stockholm like Dalarna or Härjedalen. Even more than some I would argue, since the southern parts of Sweden were added much later in history and the people there rebelled before giving up their danish identity. For sweden the loss if Finland in 1809 was traumatic, as it was a natural part of the country, not by any means a colony. This can for example be seen in the swedish commander von Döbelns speach to the finnish troops of the swedish army who were about to return to a now russian Finland after the peace treaty and the swedish loss of Finland. "...Finns! Brothers! If my words could be cealed with tears from my eyes, they would fall like a stream, and each drop assure you of my reverence, my friendship."
