Morse code is just code for whatever language you're speaking, and it's generally transferred much faster than those first examples; the word at 3:05t was sent so slow it was almost hard to hear it as characters, it sounded almost more like a bunch of E's (single dot) and T's (single dash) with slight random hesitations

actually morse code can be "spoken" and understood a lot faster than this video demonstrates. the humans ability to recognize patterns and groups of certain sounds to convey one idea, such as each syllable making up a word. a well versed morse code speaker could hear words played back to back extremely fast and decode the message not letter by letter, but recognizing different words and common patterns

I also believe there's a strong typing from animal categories; mammalians understand each other much better than a mammal with any other bird. In fact, a shout of pain for a mammal is easy to understand for us, but can be easily misinterpreted by us if it comes from a non-mammalian creature. And even in our own realm; capybara have issues socializing with dogs. Even cats and dogs, which are both social and domesticated, can be strongly at odds.

This is not to take anything away from this creator, who is truly awesome!, but more to defend teachers who are also awesome and who have an incredibly difficult job. There's a simple reason for how you feel, and that is that the creator probably puts at least 40 hours of time into making each 5 -10 minute video. At a very conservative estimate, if teachers put that kind of time into their lesson planning, they would need, like, a month to prep for every hour of class they teach. It's not a perfect 1:1 comparison, but it gives an idea of how much work it takes to make truly good and engaging pedagogical tools. If teachers got to spend every other week lesson planning for the next week, you'd probably end up with much higher lesson quality, though some teachers would still be much better than others.

Sperm whales use clicks in a morse code type way (this is separate from their ecoloation clicks, which are easy to distinguish as their structure is quite different). It's been discovered that sperm whales have phonemes (probably not the right word, but I'm gonna run with it) that follow a really distinct pattern, and that repeat but in varied ways, just like words or phonemes in a human language. Different groups also seem to have different dialects. Sperm whales have absolutely enormous brains with way more neural connections than human brains have, they have certain structures in their brain that are analgous to some of the structures in our brain that are responsible for language, and they've existed in their current state for millions of years, far longer than humans, so the possibility for a sophisticated and complex language like ours is real. There is a currently a research study to try to collect trillions of samples of sperm whale speach and throw machine learning AI at it to see if we can decode any of it! It's really amazing, everyone should read up on it! It's so cool!

hah! being trilingual (English, Spanish and Greek), I know exactly what this is like. English is the most "dumb" language of the 3. A lot of words cannot really be inferred. You just have to memorize them and understand the context. See and sea. Bat and bat, Lie and lie, and Lye, as examples. Spanish is a bit more precise, but still has words that are pronounced and sometimes spelled the same, yet have different meanings. "Rio" (a river) and "rio" (I laugh). "Como" (how) and "como" (I eat). "Cara" (a face) and "cara" (expensive in feminine tense). Greek is yet more precise, but still has words that are pronounced and sometimes spelled the same. "Piano" (I grab) and "piano" (a piano). "Bazo" (I put) and "Bazo" (a vase). "Kainos" (something new) and "Kenos" (empty). Hmm, I just realized I fuckin' hate languages. 😞

A lovely video that sadly sounds more factual then it is. For one the saying Morse code is a language is the same as saying the alphabet is a language. It's obviously not, they are just ways to express language. But the animal sounds are the worst offender for me, neat patterns aren't the same as communication so presenting them as language is an overstatement. And if you look even a bit into linguistics you know that most languages are just a jumbled mess made from others so what makes English the worst. Despite how critical i sound I still liked the video. I just hope in future there is either a better effort to actually be a more factual or not make it look like edutainment because it doesn't meet that standard

Biased English speaker reporting in. Hear me out, I believe English is the culmination of the greatest that human language has been able to achieve thus far. Humans are very complex creatures, language is species specific. Where we have many, the birds you so understandably admire, speak only one. We don't have to hunt our food, it is provided for us. We also deal with constructs such as time and exchange rates. When a being gets so many other factors in the way, language becomes less than secondary. The birds you hear have been doing the same thing for generations, they speak as elite human typers would type, but also with musical intention. Such powers may only be obtained through immense intent and focus. Humans are capable of much more than birds, we just need to learn of truly focusing our abilities and striving beyond our perceived limits.
