This would've been great as like a Konquest Mode in one of the mainline Soul Calibur games.

It's easy to poke fun at Siegfried, but I'll admit that if a talking sword with horns offered me "ultimate power" I would definitely hear it out, at least.

I honestly wish more Fighting Game franchises would do this kind of Spin-Off. Just better of course. A game where I could explore all the Realms of Mortal Kombat in the style of Elden Ring would be a dream come true.

Got this for christmas a kid. My level of hype being slowly beaten down over the day is a fond memory hahaha.

I really wish they'd revisit this idea, there's a lot of potential here that couldn't be realised at the time.

The "Elvis" is a most dangerous enemy. You sometimes see them guarding key locations in my town, like old Kmart buildings or Waffle House.

They should have gone full Lord of The Rings with Soul Calibur's story and have Cervantes as a sort of pirate Isildur that finds Soul Blade and starts wrecking Spanish, British, and Portuguese fleets with it, until Soul Edge is basically like "fuck this", and "abandons" him. How that works within the canon of SC1 I have no idea, but having that as a sort of tutorial prologue might have been badass.

I would love to another attempt at a Soul Calibur spin off game out of all the fighting game series I think this series as the most potential to branch out into other franchises. I think a Dynasty Warriors style Soul Calibur would be cool. Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate showed that a Soul Calibur character(Sophitia) could work on a Dynasty Warriors style game and how awesome would it be to play characters like Nightmare and decimate thousands of enemies. The story could either be a retelling of previous games or a brand new one. A quick story I think could work is Hilde gathering the forces of her country and recruiting heroes from the Soul Calibur world to stop Nightmare and his army of monsters and evil characters.

Absolutely fascinated by what they were going for in the story to this. Setting it presumably between Soul Calibur I and II and watching the world plunged into chaos from Siegfried claiming Soul Edge but not whatever Cervantes (who was twice your size during the fight for some reason?) did with it, all interesting choices. I'd love to see more of this. But don't take too long! You wouldn't want anything to happen to the Holy Roman Empire, would you?

Matt's my favorite to just put on while I'm working. I can look up and see what he's doing, but often his affable audio is what draws me. He's very comfy to listen to, especially on rainy days like this.

I think I paid around $20 for this, and I ended up kind of getting into it. It never really gets any better than the areas you played, but it's pretty fun in a mindless way. At least it plays well and some of the character art is nice.

I really enjoyed this game as a kid but it's everything you say it is... I still think it can be fun.

I love how the HRE (i.e. Germany) is led by a masked king, which would be near impossible to keep his identity any kind of secret. I can also imagine him being asked why the mask and him answering like "nobody cared who i was until i put on the mask..."

Strictly rented this game for Lloyd. Played about a dozen versus mode matches as him and then barely touched the story mode. It's a game and it works, but man it's got so little going on. Could have put about the same amount of effort into making it more like a musou game and it would have at least been a little more satisfying to play.

Because of the narrative around Soul Calibur 3 and fighting game culture at the time, Namco believed that nobody wanted a single player add on in Soul Calibur.... That's why this was separate and not well supported.

I really wanted to like this game. Siegfried is usually my main, so i was excited he was getting his own game. That excitement vanished not long after starting the game lol

This really does look like the sub-game that would be included in another game.

At 11:10 Matt says "I'm glad I destroyed that stalactite" when what he had just destroyed was CLEARLY a stalagmite. Boy, I really hope somebody got fired for that blunder.

I hated the Wii because of how successful it was compared to the PS3 but then SoulCalibur Legends was announced for the Wii and my tone changed and thought about getting one for this game. Thankfully, I got Twilight Princess instead. I still hope SoulCalibur can dabble in the action genre again but with proper controls and hire ones from Capcom or PlatinumGames to make it work.

It is an interesting concept from turning h Soul Caliber into this action adventure/RPG game. It’s kinda like Konquest mode in Mortal Kombat Deception and Armageddon combine into one.

This could've totally be an extra mode on a Wii Sould Calibur game and it woul've been perfectly ok. I never understood why the Wii didn't get some games that PSP did. A full fledged Soulc Calibur would have been nice.

One thing I could never wrap my head around is the character's individual timelines. Like Ivy has supposedly lived for centuries thanks to alchemy but her dad Cervantes was killed by Sophitia when she was still young but Sophitia is still a young girl when Ivy is older? It gives me a headache.

Meanwhile the far weaker psp got a full soul calibur game with Kratos as a playable character.

I think this game could of been much better if they killed (or made completely optional) the motion controls and tried to be more of a God of War clone. I think at least then it could of been remembered more fondly with at least *trying* more in depth combat lol. Because the base idea is really cool, and pulling off the fighting game combos from the main series in more general combat would be super fun, you could even do a sort of a "Rage of the Gods" thing with turning Siegfried into a proto-Nightmare with power ups from the Soul Edge and you become more corrupt when you use it as the story goes on as you collect the pieces. Lot of potential, shame it was never utiltilized.

My favorite soul caliber game wish it got remade

Even though it's not a good game overall, I still feel really nostalgic for this game. The idea behind it is really novel; seeing the Soul Calibur characters in a different type of game like this was really cool, and the boss battles were fun, as well. Honestly, I'd be down for the developers to try something like this again with, but with more time and effort put in, instead what happened here with them rushing something out to capitalize on the Wii's success at the time. Or hell, just collab with Tecmo and do a full on Warriors-Style game with the Soul Calibur cast. They've already had Sophitia as a gust character in one of those. Ooh, also of note, in the DLC for Soul Calibur VI, we learned that the events of Soul Calibur Legends was actually a dream that Siegfried had while his body was running around as Nightmare. This is told to us by a new character called Acht, who is an alternate version of Iska.

This game should've been a full-on Musou/Warriors game. I would've paid for that.

Even if they were guarding Soul Calibur they would still be the good guys: Neither sword can really be considered "good" as too much of either can result in humanity getting fucked. Essentially, one exists to stop or balance the other; neither can truly be destroyed; whoever wins, we lose, etc.

I remember completing this game. I actually had a lot of fun. But the issue with it was that the game is VERY combat heavy, there's a LOT of combat, and it's all motion controls. This is the only wii game I wish they traditional inputs instead of motion controls.

I think this game would have been better if they tried with an style more similar to Mk: Shaolin Monks, you could make an action adventure game with only Siegfried and Ivy just fine and still be a good concept. Despite looking clearly like a low budget game, they could make it a good beat em up. There is like no incentive in using other characters and switching is not fun, they should've make it a co-op game from the beggining and make the motion controls optional or remove it altogheter.

Back in the day, I wanted to get "Kirby's Epic Yarn", but was denied because it looked too gay. So I got this instead, having a very small knowledge of the series, and played it until it got really difficult. That was after you killed this giant who's supposed to be a fake boss or something.
