Stories of William Wallace are steeped in legend and local folklore.
In this video I explore a local folklore tale in the county of Easy Lothian which tells of Wallace harassing and English garrison below the Garleton Hills.
The proper name is Craigy Hill, not Cairny Hill as I mention in the film.
I also look for an elusive Wallace cave, it pit, where it said he concealed himself as he fired arrows from his bow to the castle below.

Great video, cheers! And what an interesting area! Love East Lothian, never seen or been there though, looks great. I hope you find the cave sometime, all the best.

Hey thanks man, I found it. Just a crevice more than anything but fit for purpose and aligns with the Wallace tale.

Great story. I don.t think a dog was necessary to uncover Wallace. Perhaps the falling arrows sticking in the ground with their flight feathers angled towards the towering hills above may well have given the game away!

Indeed, there have likely been many additions to the story in the folklore over the centuries… The flight path of the arrows would have been true in the way they landed.
