These boys were adopted, and are very happy now, safe in the arms of a loving family.

If the photo @ 4:26 is one of the boys on returning to the Ukraine, its obvious what he wanted. I would feel the same way as a foster parent and the only way I could do this is to have the first chance to adopt. It would be just to hard to tell them good bye. I'm not sure as to how I would feel about this program, it's great that the kids get the experience but on the other hand the heart break on both ends has to be enormous. It's almost cruel.

I'm sure the host family had nothing but ggod will but at that age I'm sure those boys hoped and believed that maby they would be adopted and after bonding (somewhat ) and seeing such an abundant life it is almost cruel to do this unless the family fully intends to adopt them. Is this for the benefit of the children or is it for the benefit of adults who are curious about orphans ?

JohnW .. I agree. It's good intentions, but it is cruel if a child in their heart hopes and thinks there is even a slight chance they can have a mom and dad and a real home. That is heart wrenching to a child.. and when it doesn't happen it is a deep rejection and an emotionally scaring experience. You give them and show them wonderful things to experience, warmth, love and comfort and then.. you say goodbye to them? I could not do that. It rips me apart inside just thinking of the sadness they feel and have to endure just so someone can 'experience' what's like to adopt. It seems beyond selfish and cruel to do this to a child just to feel what it's like to be parent for a few days.
