Ah, history. Did it happen the way the Bible says it happened? Did it happen at all? Some parts of the Bible raise these questions more than others-like the flood and the exodus. But a term biblical scholars use might help us wrap our heads around all this: mythicized history. Something happened, but the biblical telling of that something is shaped in mythic ways of thinking.
