A Thanksgiving Tale (1983)

Holiday TV special that originally aired on Showtime during the 1980's produced by puppeteer Paul Fusco who would go on to doing the sitcom "ALF" later that decade. Tom Turkey is an aspiring actor with dreams of performing on Broadway but en route to New York on Thanksgiving eve inadvertently finds himself in Newark NJ caught between feuding gangs of hungry cats and shelter-less dogs.

This was dropped by Amazon Prime for some reason. My kids love it. so happy to find it here. hope it stays

I miss when things were grainy. CRT TVs, VHS tapes, developed photographs, fields of wheat, bread.

I'm so glad to see this on KZfaq! My kids and I loved it back in the '80s...now (although they are all grown up now, they still love it) we can watch it again...and again! THANKS!!

If you haven't shared this 80s Pre-ALF special, now is the time to do so. In that way, everybody on the internet will make it go viral. This will help Paul Fusco in gaining support for his upcoming developments and The ALF Movie is his 1st priority. @@AlanEricFan

That was wonderful! 🤩😃 And Tom has such a divine singing voice! 🎶🎵 I think the song at the end was my favorite part.

This was great in its day. I still love the songs, even though they seem a little corny nowadays. We taped it and our children LOVED and grew up with it at least several times a year. Thanks for posting !

Wow. Better script and cleaner plot than the majority of the garbage entertainment out these days. I'm not usually one for nostalgia, but it's refreshing to watch something without any cynicism. Happy Thanksgiving, all! Cheers!

If you enjoyed A Thanksgiving Tale. I definitely recommend Paul Fusco's other endearing holiday classic, The Crown of Bogg (Halloween special).

"What are we, men or mice?" "I like cheese." That's an old gag! I heard it in a Looney Tunes cartoon with Porky Pig (I don't remember the title though). Actually, they were neither men nor mice, they were CATS! That turkey did a rotten Cary Grant imitation. Those dogs that sounded like Edward G. Robinson and Jimmy Durante were much better. Today, they would probably never show that dog with the Hispanic accent. It would be considered racist.
