Following the talks on mammography, we now look at its companion, sonomammography. No longer do we give a BIRADS 0 category for want of a sonological correlation, leaving the patient in limbo. Most diagnostic mammograms are now accompanied with an ultrasound assessment for characterization of masses. Furthermore, satellite lesions may at times be only seen on ultrasound, more so in the dense breast. Similarly, a palpable lesion, occult on mammography, must get under the probe, and so too a young lady or a pregnant or lactating lady!
