Decades ago we USED to get winter storms here in Kentucky, and they actually produced a bit of snow. As the climate has changed, and snowfall amounts have decreased on a yearly basis, the "weather channels" have started using bolder and bolder language to try and keep people interested. If it's a couple of inches of snow, even six inches, it's a "winter storm". Laughable. The snow / rain line has moved north by almost a state over the past few decades.

I know exactly what your saying. I lived in North Alabama and now live just south of Nashville. Wish it would snow of 10 inches! Ha

@@corvettelady58 The only way we're going to see this kind of thing is to move north. The climate for the whole of the US is just plain warmer than ever. We've had cold nights before here in Kentucky, this fall/winter but the night before last night we had our first real "frost". When I was a kid we were getting our first real frost in NORTH CENTRAL Kentucky sometime around the end of October, beginning of November. There is a monument out west honoring the Donner Party. The base of that monument (before you get to the statue itself) is perhaps 20 feet high. The top of that base represents just how deep the snowpack was during that tragedy. Never in our lifetimes will we see that kind of snow out west.

Indeed, any snowfall when I was in Tennessee was practically catastrophic. But you’d be hard pressed to get a respectable snowman constructed in the yard.

@atlantic_love That includes the beautiful northern states! Super mild winters last 10yrs+. I'm in Upper Midwest an love 4 seasons.

@@Davido50 Absolutely. I used to live in both South Dakota and even in Masschusetts (both sides of the state). This is going on everywhere, but for some ODD REASON the "weathermen" (actors) won't tune their forecasts and announcements accordingly. Just too much money to be made off hype, I guess. Hype for the foolish.

I live in so. Illinois near St. Louis and once again like clockwork the big snows miss us avoid this area like the plague! I have been telling people for the last 3 days don't worry it will miss us like always and end up with mostly rain as always! I know how to predict the weather here and damn I am good! They always go too far north of us and it is always to warm for snow!

What do you think of the CMC's east trend with the storm next week? The Euro and the GFS keep the center of the low over Michigan, which keeps the entire interior northeast in intense rain for most of the storm.... I am wondering if the storm has the chance to push farther east?

I certainly hope it tracks in Ohio that we get a substantial snowfall. So disappointing to not at least get one good snowfall in Columbus.

Until I started listening to the storm chasers and meteriologist on YT, I barely paid attention to our local weather news broadcasts. I'd get so excited with the potential of snow only to feel disappointed with the dusting. I understand weather patterns change, however I've grown to greatly appreciate what the YT weather community shares with us.

Thanks for keeping us all updated! Nothing against you, seriously, but wow. It actually almost ALWAYS seems like we get a good chance of good thunderstorms, snow, and amazing weather like that, but the closer days leading up to it, we have little to no chance. There has been winter storm stuff all over the news but OF CORSE it always completely misses us by one state or less. Ugh! Sorry lol, I'm a big weather lover, ESPECIALLY snow!!!

We NEED snow - quite a bit of it. We need a good snow pack so that when it melts, it can correct our drought situation. Those that farm and plant gardens need more moisture content in our soil - as deep as possible.

a ton? really? a ton? it didn't take me until high school chemistry to learn that 2000 lbs of water is 32 cu.ft. that's either a large bath tub of very small whirlpool. and while snow is tremendously less dense than water, i just can't get excited about snow, that if melted, wouldn't fill my whirlpool. if you had said a ton of beer, well, that is an entirely different matter. where do i sign up.

Tell the truth like look up at how there dumping toxic particles and how there building this model forecast people if you get snow collect some in a clean jar you will be amazed what's in it after it melts
