Join me as I bring a imagination together in this exciting build! In this video, I construct the famous TSR2 aircraft from Airfix in 1/48 scale, envisioning what it might have looked like if it had served in the Swedish Air Force. We'll take it a step further by painting the model in a striking Swedish forest camouflage and applying realistic weathering techniques.
(Update) So I know know where I got the idea for the title of this video

If you're interested in feedback from a Swede. 😁 The colors of the camo are spot on, and you put the colors in such an order as they would really be on for example a Viggen. They're a bit sharp, which gives away that you freehanded them, but I wouldn't say that's an issue really, only in you would have been really painting for the Airforce. 😁 I'm impressed, I'd definitely say you did justice to the camouflage, and it's really nice to see you do it on video. I'm always honored when people abroad build Swedish. 🙂

Really nicely done! I love a TSR-2 what-if. I have 2 Pitt Road 1:144, 3 Airfix 1:72 and 1 Airfix 1:48 TSR-2 kits. I will definately do a Wild Weasel version in RAF 70's wrap around camo and am thinking about a shortened, increased span interceptor with a Phantom nose. The good thing about the 1:144 scale kits is that they let you trial a kit bash for not much money. I have a 1:144 F-4J and a Tornado F.3 to play with for the TSR-2 interceptor.

I really liked that; it looks great in that scheme. Judging by the accent you are better placed than most of us to check on details as there is a TSR2 in the RAF museum at Cosford.

Cool, during the Cold War, Sweden had its own nuclear b*mb project going on and also had plans for an aircraft to carry the bombs ... so this, could could have been an option to the Swedish aircraft ...

Brilliant!! Love that build Sully!! the biggest inaccuracy on that kit is the fat fuselage. Take a look at the real thing and you'll see what I mean.

I love these what if style builds 👍 I had a look at a real TSR2 at Duxford museum. I reckon at 1:48th scale you could fill most of the panel line in. Such a super clean airframe, all be it rather dull in white. Subscribed

Well i think that is the best what if TSR iv ever seen. Im not a TSR fan either but thats great. I did a 1.72 with a Captain Scarlet theme. Turned out to be ... mmeh...

It should be painted with no signs of use and weathering as this aircraft was never used by the Swedish Air Force...Basically it never got beyond the prototype. Otherwise, it is a very nicely made model.

How could this have come about? 1. The TSR2 wasn't canceled. 2. The Swedish nuclear bomb program wasn't canceled. 3. The SAAB Project 1300 (SAAB 36) nuclear bomber was canceled (as it really was). 4. Sweden bought TSR2 instead of SAAB 36.

Nice speculation. Do you think Sweden would still have developed the AJ-37 Viggen if they had ordered TSR2?

@@Akm72 probably but it could of depended if TSR2 delivered on what it was meant tobe really the only thing it proved was it could get of the ground and the Olympus engines were really good!

@@bobojoh Not impossible though the design would need to be bigger to carry the extra fuel to keep the same radius of action.
