When I was a (bloody) student in Sunderland in the early 1980s we used to go to the metal night at the Mecca - or the 'Mek-ah' as the locals said. So much headbanging, so much hair. Good to see the pubs shutting down, the Brits basically need to focus on economics , hard work, thriftiness , manufacturing , exports , as they used to be when they were an industrial and economic powerhouse world power , not darts , football and boozing .
