Not just the volume of music but the sheer QUALITY of music is mind boggling.

True anybody can amass an insane amount of junk cds these days if you stick to thrift stuff. Obviously vast majority of this stuff was bought new from the looks of it.
@wolf1977
@wolf1977 Жыл бұрын
@@TMINE100 Before I sold/put into storage my physical music media I 'stripped' out of them every track I liked (yes it was a huge task as I had well over 3,000 albums in LP/cd form) & just converted those tracks to mp3. Then only bought a la carte digital music from that point on. To me the mark of 'non-junk' isn't whether they were bought new or used (or cut-outs), I honestly found quite a few of my albums either used or in bargain bins back in the day (this was in the pre-internet days). I think if people are being really honest with themselves there are probably MANY albums they own where they only like one or a couple of tracks (and of course that varies by person based on personal musical taste). That's why I don't get too hung up on the sheer number of albums someone might own, it's more about the quantity of music that they actually like (and will listen to). There were many albums where I'd faithfully skip the same tracks every time I played them - now I just play those that I actually like. I know that Pete (and probably many others) are in the 'gotta play the whole album through every time' camp...

@wolf1977

@@TMINE100 Then you either will miss out on a LOT of great individual songs and/or you own many greatest hits compilations - and many great deep tracks are excluded from bands' greatest hits packages. In fact speaking from experience in putting together many custom playlists (and before that mix tapes & best-of CD-R's), the vast majority of greatest hits sets don't match up very well to my playlists, meaning that they're leaving out a lot of songs that I really like. I'd also say that the actual number of albums where I can honestly say that I like every single track is the vast minority of albums that I've owned or have heard. I couldn't conceive of purposely getting rid of albums where I only like let's say 1/2 of the tracks (without first 'ripping' those songs - which in fact is what I did years ago), that would deprive me of some really great music
@TMINE100
@TMINE100 Жыл бұрын
@@wolf1977 No I own mostly studio albums and have a large collection 2000+ it's not to say there's no bad tracks on any of the albums, it's a question of if I'm not willing to spin this from beginning to end it needs to go. The point of my Cd collection is not to have every single song I like catalogued, that's where streaming and KZfaq come in handy.

@Daniel-415-Ponce
@Daniel-415-Ponce Жыл бұрын
@@j.woodbury412 I was just at my local Target last night, and I was disappointed to see that the amount of shelf space devoted to physical media (CD's, DVD's, Blu-rays, etc.) has incrementally over time been substantially reduced to almost nothing. An entire aisle there a few weeks ago that use to house older movies and series box sets is completely gone now. All that remains is a small end cap display for new release CD's (mostly Top 40 & Hip Hop, very little Rock), a small 4-sided stand-alone display for select new DVD's/Blu-rays, and three short shelves in one aisle displaying a paltry selection of new vinyl record albums (mostly Target exclusives). It would seem that we as a civilization are quickly getting much closer than most of us realize to the feudal dystopian nightmare promised by Klaus Schwab of the diabolical World Economic Forum in which "You will own nothing, but you will be happy." How unfortunate that evidently so many of you are content to sit back passively and embrace this "new normal" being imposed upon all of us!
@j.woodbury412
@j.woodbury412 Жыл бұрын
@@Daniel-415-Ponce That is sad, and scary. I hate this "new normal". Last I looked Barnes & Noble had a pretty good selection of cd's, I got Rush's "Roll the Bones" and Chicago's "Chicago" (also known as "Chicago II") at Barnes & Noble last year for my birthday. I'm thinking about buying a vinyl record player and starting a vinyl collection, but I haven't made up my mind about it. I've heard both good and bad things about buying vinyl records, but that's true about anything.

@@Daniel-415-Ponce The big supermarket chains have never given a toss about stocking quality music/films other than the mass produced mainstream pap, certainly here in the UK , thankfully there are still plenty of independent retailers who stock pretty much anything you're looking for so it's not too bleak just yet.

Stopped counting at14.000 Lp`s ( analog ) & over 7.000 Cd`s in my collection several years ago. My fetish rock & roll years are from 1956 - 1975 U.S.A. England, Germany, South America, Italy, etc. These were the golden years of rock n roll music. I like many bands that came after that time period, but they are few. P.S. I met the band Deep Purple in person 3 times for photos & autographs & Alice Cooper 2 times,& many others. From a very die hard fan of rock & roll music. Keep the faith.

When you mentioned the Amboy Dukes some viewers might have noticed 'The American Amboy Dukes'. This would be an import album (possibly 'Migration') with 'American' added because there was a British band named Amboy Dukes. It was similar with British band Bush being branded 'Bush X' in Canada because there was an early 70s band named Bush and its leader, Dom Troiano, still owned the name. He later sold the rights to the Brits to raise money for a cancer society. He himself later died of prostate cancer. If Dom Troiano sounds familiar, he and Bush singer Roy Kenner were enlisted to take Joe Walsh's place in the James Gang. Troiano also had a solo career and did a couple albums with the Guess Who. Other Bush members Whitey Glann and Prakash John went to Alice Cooper and Lou Reed.

Excellent collection, PP! I know one thing, nobody's got 'that much' BIRTH CONTROL (well, except for my ex-wife) 🥁 pa-cha! Seriously now, a lotta good sections to behold! A couple faves for me would be the BOWIE & BUDGIE. Two things to bring up about those... With Budgie, you should try to get the Noteworthy label editions of "Squwak" and "NTYBOAF," so you can complete that badass "connected spine logo" properly. I mean, not to sound too esoteric here, but since you have most of the others there, you know. Adding (supplanting) those two would give you the full "BUDGIE"! * My Budgie CDs are all older Repertoire, which sound great, so I'll probably never get the Noteworthy editions. it's just cool for me to see what the Noteworthy spines look like. I didn't know they did the old Free/Iron Maiden thing with the interesting spine connective. Cool. As for DAVID BOWIE, I'm sure you're just fine with those EMI editions w/ the groovy picture top spines. But... depending on how much you love classic 70s Bowie (which should be with all your heart and soul of course), the more recent Parlophones and the old, hard to acquire RCA editions (even 'some' of the Rykos) offer better, more authentic, dynamic mastering. And the RCAs, which I love best, feature the original LP "back cover" art on the rear. So just a heads up there. Again, I'm sure the EMIs suit you fine. This issue is more about sound. The EMI CDs are just unnecessarily bassy in places (which is decidedly un-Bowie like) and also, that stinking "no-noise" technology was used as well. Feh... They're decent though. Nothing too egregious. I still have 'em too! Just greatly prefer the other (RCA & Parlophone) editions, especially sound wise. 🦉 Marc P.s. Love the Universal Horror figures too!
