My mom used to have hella plants. Like out house was practically a jungle. My dad loved it bc when my mom was sick it gave her something to do bc she couldn’t work anymore. And every Friday when he got paid the first thing he did was buy her a new plant. She knew so much about them and every room had a different section. Everyday after school I would always go around the house and help her take care of them. When she was too sick to walk my oldest sister would take her around in the wheel chair and I would go back and forth filling up the watering jug. Then when she passed, no matter what we did the plants just kept dying. We had someone at a nursery tell us why they wouldn’t survive. And he had no idea he said it was almost like the plants were feeling grief as well. So slowly all the plants died and when we noticed that without all the plants the house looked empty. Couple weeks later we moved out the house and never really decided to plant again. Until recently for my moms 10th anniversary I decided to go out and buy a plant. And so far it’s doing okay. I’ve been keeping a close eye on it. I’m 18 now and the last time I really took care of a plant I was 8 so I don’t have much memory on what they need, I’ve been doing a lot of research so wish me luck.

My grandma was a great gardener, and she had tons of plants. I was never good at growing them, and, after she died, I missed her but never really thought about plants, even though we inherited one. I just rewatched this after seeing Juliens Instagram post about their Monstera veriegata and his story with his first Hoya flower. In this video, she says that her wish is to accomplish that at some point and now, two years later, she did :) I’m imaging them two being excited and all about this and it makes me really happy.
