Part 1 of my South Pacific Trip.
I fly into the danger zone, otherwise known as PNG's capital city. With a reputation for carjacking, violence, machete attacks (all down to those pesky Raskols) I brave the mean streets and find that the city is not as bad as is made out.
That said, there is a definite edge, but everyone I came across was friendly and welcoming.

Stayed there for almost 3 years ... It is a beautiful place. People I met were friendly, although you really can not neglect the fact that it is indeed very dangerous. I have friends who have experienced being robbed by rascals and despite not fighting back, they sustained injuries.

It's sad, as rascals will target Papua New Guineans too. as well as others. The nice thing however which i don't see in so-called developed countries is, people will actually go out of their way to help anyone who was robbed or something of that sort. So rascals themselves know that in the event that they do get caught, they should pray the police get there before the public gives them a taste of their own medicine.

Port Moresby is not as bad as most people think. Just like any other city in the world, you don't go certain locations at certain specific times. I wouldn't go to Brazil and walk into the Favilas between 11PM-5 AM.

My parents served in the Peace Corps back in the late 1980's. My mom always wanted to go back, she loved the people! It scared me to death though, when they were there. Very dangerous, and even cannibalism at that time. She wrote a book about her experience and in closing the book, she said she WOULD go back if it was the last thing. Now I have her ashes in a box and want to take her back. Thank you for sharing this video!

But if you was to just go into the highlands you would see how beautiful my people are. I was born in Mt. Hagen WHP and raised at Mele ..pangia district SHP. My parents was pioneer missionaries from USA and spent 40yrs in the Pangia district! If you truly want to know png people then you need to get out of cities and meet the real people. Thanks for this 13 minute video. It seems to be a beautiful city. It was dressed up for this APEC 2018 meeting. The new convention center is gorgeous. The birds in nature center are beautiful. It seems there is only one stretch of road for 40 Maserati cars to be driven. Hopefully, there will be more. If 80% of the population is rich and own land and natural resources, it means the remaining 20% do the hard labor for this 80% which must be very hard.

As someone who has traveled to all sorts of bad cities all over the world... I just want everyone to know, these places rarely live up to their expectations of being extremely violent... Most of the time you go out and you don't even see a street fight like you would at your local bar.... Alot of times these ideas are sparked by people who are simply afraid of the population no matter what they do... That's doesn't mean you shouldn't be careful, but don't let fear ruin or completely halt your trip.... if you think hard enough, they probably call multiple cities in your country "dangerous" when in fact you know it's not that bad... Don't let the foreign aspect gas you up

Next step would be to build up a better narration in terms of microphone and content, and eliminate that music which jumps out every 30 sec, always with the same motiv. It is just not necessary. Some parts beautiful..but ela Beach water is dirty..mainly visited by the natives..who lived off the land for centuries. It is the Europeans who came here and screwed up this beach..trashed it..and left it a ragged version of its former glory. The natives immune system is probably not affected by it. However a lot of new guinea I've seen on here is beautiful..some parts of the cities..and the stunning green elegance of the jungles. I would hope that this place will not fall victim to deforestation.

You can say anything about my country, but I will say we love our country, just to be clear every country has its own challenges just like Papua New Guinea. We are still developing but developing so fast. It is not safe in some parts of the main city and just like other countries they have their danger zone. You visited our main city just for you to know and everyone knows that we have 22 provinces and they are beautiful coz God created that for us. Everyone that lives in the main big city has a home province in which we have land and families so if any time we need help, we can always go to our home province and have free land and free healthy vegetables for us to eat and to live happily. Family is one important thing for us Papua New Guineans. People make their own choices to make them worse off so if you see crimes and all these its one individual's doings and it makes all of us look bad, it's their choices like other countries do have their challenges too which one individual person does something and makes the whole country looks bad. I am a proud Papua New Guinean no matter what people from other countries say and think about us, we are God's children and we are grateful for what we have and the challenges that we go through coz they make us more strong. It pushes us to go the extra mile so our future kids will help build our country and know that we had humble beginnings just like other countries!! God bless Papua New Guinea!

@@mteokay1246 unfortunately it seems like certain races cannot handle independence. Look at South Africa. It was the riches country in Africa and within years under black rule it has become corrupt and full of crime like all other black run countries.

Papua New-Guinea’s always-seemed like such a beautifully-niche nation. I’m sure this clip of the capital (as aesthetically-polished as it happens-to be) doesn’t-quite do justice to the inner beauty of this country but for an amateur outsider it’s a start. I really wouldn’t-mind visiting. (And yh. I really-am about that pedantic-hyphenation life now. Dash-for-dash, innit.)
