It's funny, they've never touched onto what would happen if Homelander were to race A-Train, the same way Superman raced Flash. Now in the latter, it's confirmed that due to the speed force, Flash is FAR FAR FASTER than Superman, but because there is no speed force here, the race could be a bit more even.

I think that by Having A-Train be a speedster it metaphorically stands for his desire to run out of poverty. As a result his speed is the ground zero for his wealth and success. His one valuable skill that makes him different from an ordinary man or especially an ordinary black man. He chooses to keep running because if he doesn’t he feels as if he will end up where he began and will never escape from it again. This is the same with other athletes as FFV so rightly said it. But most athletes these days are given other educational opportunities in order to play their sport on the in case they suffer an injury or illness that prevents them from playing professionally again. A-Train however doesn’t have this. He doesn’t get a second chance because to Vought Ind, superheroes are an industry of popularity and they need the best. The strongest, fastest, bravest etc. And if someone like A-Train can’t hold up then it’s not their concern if he ends up back in a life of poverty since he should’ve tried harder. This is why like the rest of the Seven A Train is cold and heartless. He stands or rather runs only for himself and won’t let anyone come between him and his position in life. A-Train had to fight an uphill battle to get to his position at Vought and unlike the rest of the seven has to continue fighting that same battle he has fought to keep it.

Out of all the characters from the Comic A Train is easily the most improved one

The speed Is only a secondary benefit, but if this were something real the fact his body would be able to move that fast without tearing apart is the true miracle.

He played the role super well.

A train knows he's doing bad things and he knows them. But I beleive he can improve and be better. Unlike other heroes who justify their actions, a train is self aware, at least a bit.

A train could be a great hero, but he needs to defeat his main villain his ego.

Strength can also be quantified and used in a competitive way.

This is much better than what the comics did in my opinion because Hughie and A-train’s rivalry feels like an actual rivalry, like they’re at each other’s throats. While in the comics they only meet again near the end and A-train doesn’t remember Hughie or Robin which is to show how bad A-train, but the amazon version achieved the same thing in episode 3 and yet they made him more nuanced.
