A Training Day in Florida

Hey y'all! Finally got around to filming and editing something! It's not the best because it was done last night at like 10pm butttttt it's something to get me out of my slump I hope. I tried to film almost a full day of what I do in FL. I have two additional training horses now too that aren't included in this video... I'll have to put those in another video! Usually I start my mornings training, and go through into the afternoon. Then I have either lessons to teach, a meeting, or something along those lines! It's always busy at Prosperity Farms!

What a great job for skill building/maintenance! I love dressage---the more I do it and the more I learn the more I appreciate it. It transfers SO WELL to other disciplines too, you really can't go wrong with investing time into it in my opinion. Love your calm approach to the youngsters and you can see how well they respond to it and how relaxed they become with a rider

Thank you! I would enjoy anything similar to this too. It's taken me two years, but my final conclusion is, that every horse is beautiful and interesting to me. (Caution, ⚠️ Rambling Ahead, No Response expected)... I still want to get to a level of helping Mustangs during the training process and I understand, although I continue growing in healthy assertiveness, I may or may not be that person with confidence, timing and feel thats good for teaching or reinforce teaching a horse. I can see the possibility of becoming independent with helping in the type of professional therapeutic center I learn Natural Horsemanship from, that is overseen by a long term care hospital. I'm getting to a place of leading my therapeutic horse to and from his paddock/field, or walking him into a stall, so the barn staff vs the instructor and I, return him to his field and field mate. This was super cool! I was wondering if you could do a video on advice for yearlings? I currently have a 1 year old Haflinger and I was hoping I could get some tips on desensitizing, starting to lunge, etc.

I really like this video. I generally only train for fun and ride for trails because that's what I enjoy, but I completely agree with the value in dressage. Even though I don't do dressage I've started studying it a lot because it carries over into every aspect of riding

Dressage - makes me feel at home. It has a very old history and actually is gymnastics for the horse under the rider. Sometimes in the US people talk about English style and that harks back to the European continent where, for instance, Vienna in Austria has its famous Spanish Riding School with the (white) Lippizaner stallions. Of course Spain has such riding schools, or France. In Vienna, you could recognize the origin in chivalry - riding elite with a special role in the battlefield. And this harks all back to Julius Caesar's (100BC~44BC) time when he imperialistically conquered Europe with his foot soldiers and "Spanish Rider" cavalry. In Caesar's days the idea of dressage was already some 400 years old, or older, and Greek author Xenophon wrote a booklet On Horsemanship that may still have an English translation in your library - very interesting. Xenophon already starts with horse psychology in the sense he writes that you should not "break" a horse yourself as the horse must love, not hate you. In his days of pony sized stallions, "break" was the approach that today "we" try to replace with a patient negotiation into collaboration. In Xenophon's day, the word that Greek used for the bit in the bridle was "rasp" - some things have changed - like the addition of saddles and stirrups - but not a lot. And Xenophon already writes what you can simply do to strengthen the horse's fetlock region to prevent it getting injured in terrain. Dressage - very old human-horse collaboration history.

Can you make a basics on moving the hindquarters and shoulders, my horse has no respect when leading and in the round pen and I want to start teaching him to move with my body but I don't know where to start. Love your videos 😊❤

I appreciate you taking the time to do these videos. In my training my hot red head, I emulate your calmness & subtleties of the cues - less is more with him. Right now I’m dependent on books, DVD, u-tube, & the videos I take of myself to improve Liberty & my riding. I am always excited to see when you have a new one out!!!

Do you generally use a singular English saddle for all of the horses you work? If so, can you provide the details on it? I'm struggling to find something that is suitable for my TB gelding but has the ability to be tossed on a schooling mount for classes and do fine as well - a versatile, comfy brand is my goal. Love your videos!

Thank you! Most of my horses are still in a halter in this but lynx rides in (I think) a turtle top bit(?), and when I start the 3-year-olds they use a double jointed snaffle

I live in Florida do you work with horse and rider. I hade a bad fall and having a hard to gain my confidence and regaining my seat i ride western but have rode English. i live in arcadia not sure how far you are from. Me . hope you can help me
