Wish I would've gotten to hangout with my grandpa, who was very much so Cherokee-Irish. I'm of Northern European heritage mainly, but my dad always spoke fondly of his father. He served in WWII in Hawai'i. If I tell people of my Cherokee roots, they often mock me, telling me that 1/64th Indian ain't Indian. I never say I'm native, just being myself. This music helps me to be myself, and respect so many indigenous cultures around the world. Thankful this song exists, and thankful to hear your story!

Most hispanics are native Americans, its only when you know you have the spanish blood (from spain) that it may be weird with the technicality but yes, most hispanics are actually Native. when the Spanish Conquistadors came to Central America they forced the remaining natives to heavily adopt the spanish ways and since its been so long since they conformed, most forgot their actual traditional ways. But there are tribes in mexico who completely gave up the spanish ways and have relearned their ancestors ways. 😊

White guy here who grew up with more Ojibwa friends then white or black up northern Minnesota. Moved to southern New Mexico as a teen.. I got to learn about the Ute, Apache, Navajo and attended gathering of the nations a few years ago. Now living in Missouri I’ve taught myself and am learning about the Quapaw, Osage, Sioux and Shawnee. I got much love and respect for y’all. Stay true and be prideful of who y’all are! I've listened to this song on repeat since the first moment I came across it. The whole album is wonderful and emotional. My sons and I drove across this beautiful country and this song was in heavy rotation. Now, whenever my sons hear it they think of the time we drove from California to New York state and saw all the beauty that the tribes of American Natives have struggled so hard to preserve. Never stop making this music and sharing your stories.
