I love the fact that the Fallout universe is a harsh and hostile world, but when you are extremely dumb, even the bad guys try their best to be easy on you.

I love the idea that a random idiot walked in from the wasteland and all the soldiers just thought he was a dumb new recruit and because he was too stupid to think otherwise he just goes with it and inadvertently joins the enclave.

I really like how the first guard handles his words; he does deliberately try to make himself be understood to the likes of a bumbling imbecile, and does try to shy him away, even when he represents a cynical, overpowered faction. 0:19 - Section is just beautiful. The way he says "You get hurt!" cements it.

Enclave treating a "slow" character proves that they are villains, but they're not monsters

The quatermaster / outfitter is pretty understanding and kind. Fo3 enclave was just a bunch of mindless drones.

Honestly, I appreciate that the gate guard tried to make the effort.

0:42 this is probably the most wholesome enclave soldier ever, can you imagine being in that cult and having to look after his mentally handicapped brother? god, makes me sad to think that his brother will never see him again, legit feel bad rn because i remember having a friend who had a dumbass brother like the chosen one in this video, its pretty heart wrenching to imagine one of those people having to lose a brother who obviously cared deeply about him, did he ever get over the death of his brother? eh, my hope is that its referenced somewhere in the future, maybe a super mutant tells us about how his brother was a badass who spent all his life in the bathroom next to the weapons locker

This is why I prefer the original 2. To write different dialogue that spans the whole game for someone with low intelligence means dedication to the power of 100. You could roleplay so much more effectively in these. I actually had a non-combatant diplomat once, and I can't count the amount of problems I solved with my tongue. Being like that is surely hard in the first two, but try doing that in 3 or New Vegas!

Love how this eerie, ominous music is continuously used throughout the series.

They wrote most of the in-game dialogue multiple times over to account for different intelligence levels of your character. It's insane. These kind of details separate good games, from legendary masterpieces.

I've never played old fallout games however I did play fallout 3, new vegas and 4...... its sad to see what fallout 4 have became, especially on the dialogue options

In FO3 They made the enclave the fucking galactic empire, The actual soldiers and commanders in it lost all characters and are now just the mean bad guys.

the second guy is I think the nicest and most sympathetic guy in any of the fallout games

The first time I've played both Fallout 1 and 2 was in 2019. Not tainted by nostalgia, yet I've enjoyed both of these games much more than the newer ones. Hell, I probably enjoyed them more than New Vegas. And I don't think I've ever played a turn based RPG before, I was always an FPS player. Shows how Interplay/Obsidian know how to make a good game.

When fighting Frank with low INT there are a number of factors, your level, perks, skills and Special. There are many weapons that work well against him, but the weapon alone isn't everything. I for the most part stick to small guns or unarmed. Gauss Rifle, Sniper Rifle and the Red Ryder BB gun great small guns.

Awww I was expecting so much more from the Drill Sergeant. Still, great to see something from the game I had never seen before.

Try playing Arcanum as a Super Model. Never increase your intelligence or learn any magic or technology. Max out charisma, beauty, persuasion, and all the melee combat stuff. The dialogue options are hilarious! You're dumb as a post, but everybody loves you. If for some reason they don't, you're a melee beat-stick, too.

Interplay could have gone out of their way to make the Enclave completely degenerate and intolerable. Instead they basically humanized them at every chance they had so well, even whit their insane plan everyone loves them.
