You two are the bane of my later years. At 68 I've been playing professionally for 55 years and just when I get over my G.A.S. syndrome, you two entertainingly and thoroughly cover something that makes me sit up and take notice. I regularly play a 200-seat room that this would absolutely be insane to have running into the house. I've actually been hearing something like this in my head but haven't been able to work out the logistics. Thanks so much for the fun and the info.

Thanks to JHS pedals I have, after playing guitar for forty years, finally decided to try making a pedalboard setup. This has turned me into a pedal addict almost overnight and I hold you guys personally responsible. Lol It started with two or three pedals which quickly turned into four or five. I only put on the brakes when I ran out of spendable money. I have seven pedals now and it's absolutely fun playing around with them. Love the channel! I had to keep it cheap so here's my rig if anyone's curious: Moskey Silver Horse Caline Pure Sky Joyo American Mooer Yellow Compressor Aroma ADL-1 Delay Joyo Classic Flanger Behringer Ultra Chorus And all that goes into my Line 6 Pod XT where I add whatever else I want. I also have a cool Hotone Heart Attack Legacy Nano I can throw in there. New to this so feel free to let me know what you guys think. Stay groovy 👍

Looks great and low budget is no problem if they give you the sound you're hearing in your head. I know what you mean. Started with an SG straight into a Fender Showman. Then my friend gave me his wah and phase shifter pedals when he quit playing. That was the start of my sound-shaping journey. Enjoy.

I've been searching distortion and overdrive pedals to put my TB303 clone into and you described the concept from a musical perspective . Well I understood it anyway so nice choice of words. I used to use a RAT because there were 10 at every pawn shop and gear in Detroit was limited anyway, but what a bone crusher. The Beam Splitter has a bigger range and doesn't break up the sound like other pedals. It might be a little messy to use when dj'ing, never used something with more than 3 knobs, but it gives me 2 parts of the golden trio I like - reverb, delay, distortion. Now I'm convinced to get this one and give it a try, big thanks going out to you guys.

The old blood noise endeavors Alpha Haunt v2 is my favorite fuzz EVER. I don't even bother looking at other fuzz pedals. When OBNE seeks to make something, I feel like they always do it to the conceptual conclusion. They leave no stone unturned. Individual outputs for each section, three different types of overdrive, individual delay for each section, summed output running everything in parallel for mono, modulation control, full volume, gain, and tone for each section. The stuff they make is so dang cool. It's like, when OBNE makes something, they do the hell outta it to the point where they only need to make one. You want an overdrive? The Fault is gonna do just about everything any other overdrive will do. Two gain stages, transparent, high gain, low gain, EQ, everything. You want a fuzz? The Alpha Haunt will do everything from Velcro, to tone bender, to fuzz face, to gated big muffs, to light, grainy overdrive. They've got all sorts of different interesting utility pedals too to help incorporate different channels, expression sliders, EQ, stereo XY, a/b. Old Blood Noise Endeavors are so awesome man. My dream pedal would probably be an OBNE parametric EQ with shelving options for bass and treble. I'm sure if they ever did one, it'd be perfect. And probably include some other stuff that I couldn't even think of that'd actually be super practical and useful

got one here, & persuaded my guitarist to get one on spec. I'd been kicking the idea around for a while & tried to build something similar in a mod-dwarf, using the incoming note to generate a sampled-&-held random value for the delays. I love the idea of rolling off the guitar level to clean up the fuzz channel- as a bassist, it was too buzzy for me, so that's got my third channel back. where they have missed a trick, for me, is in not making the auxiliary outputs on stereo jacks, so that you can use them send-&-return & summed onto the main output. this would overcome its lack of individual channel switches & allow you to insert other effects. imagine a looper on full wet on an insert. you play a line & what seems to be a different guitar plays it back at you a bar later. that sort of thing. octavers. harmonisers. I'm going to have a look in mine, see if a retrofit is possible. I know my guitarist doesn't want to lug a mixer around to achieve this sort of use.

I wish it summed to stereo as well as mono, because that way it would retain its LCR 'trereo' field but be a lot more useful in plugging into other things.
@AndyOthling

it does. any output left unused gets sent to the main output. so if you use only the first two outputs you'll get the blue + purple channels summed together on the left, and the green channel on the right.

Looks useful for when you are just one guitar player in a band, either through 1 or 2 or even 3 amps, to simulate there are two (or three) guitars live. I have heard of people with a similar idea, splitting the guitar signal through different distortions (or recording just one track and copying it) and the secondary one with some delay or something, exactly with the same intention of this pedal of giving it the feeling of being more than 1 guitar or track. So this sums that idea in 1 device.
@Handles_are_garbage
@Handles_are_garbage 9 ай бұрын
You can do it in multi effects that have splitting. I've got a Boss GT1000 and usually use multiple amp models to make my sound more rich, but slap a delay in front with 100%, 0% dry, no feedback and a 6ish ms delay and it sounds immense.

@justingoers 9 ай бұрын
When you use the mono output they're still in parallel though right? There's no series / parallel switch as far as I understand it. They're either in parallel with separate outputs or their in parallel and summed to mono. Lemme know if I'm wrong, but I don't think there's a way to run these overdrives in series, which is kind of a bummer.

What I really don't like is that there seems to be no way to get a regular stereo output from this without. Just seems silly, since most other pedals I'd want to plug this into have stereo in, while actually using the 'trereo' requires a multitude of pedals dedicated to just using this one pedal to it's full potential. Definately worth the extra 20USD the pedal would cost to have a stereo out here.

i mean pedal switchers cost extra + take up space....there should be more pedals like what i am looking for here. ( previous comment, less compressor, more Q ) and by Basic Optical 2:1, i just mean use the output control to push into it ( more output = more compression ) ... and i know the country guys like the FET sound, but some of us don't want compressor coloration .... but that works out, because the country guy can run an always on FET, in addition, ( and then they don't sound over compressed when they hit the same boost )..and a "pop-less" foot switch..buffered, or anything to make it not pop......just like put an extra LED, for compression activity, and call it haunting mids + comp, or something.
