Alright I did it thanks to your review! Bought the 16” screen Velocore from Scheels! Absolutely love it so far!! I will say, in my opinion, the lean doesn’t add much and doesn’t seem to engage my core much. So if you are caught up on that don’t let that be the only reason you go for this bike. But screen is plenty big, and all the other apps and features on it are great. And I saved $1k by going with this and canceling my peloton bike+. And no more waiting! Score!

Very nice! So glad you are enjoying and great feedback! I actually noticed when I would hold strong leans it was a good workout for my arms and I liked that. And I would not call it an extreme core exercise, but more of the fact that it makes you engage your core and maintain better posture and engage muscles in a better position. Probably could have been more clear with my thoughts there! So glad you have it and love it!

I’m considering this and the Peloton Bike+. I like this because long ago at Bally’s, there was a game-like bike that moved side to side. I have yet to see that in another gym, but loved it.

Thank you for this, Travis - it is the most helpful thing I've found so far to assist with decision making and what to expect. I am on the fence between Peloton and this puppy (16"). Classes are important to me but live/leaderboard isn't; and I'm leaning toward (couldn't resist) the Velocore, really solely because of lean mode. *Very* interested to see a comparison : ) Thank you!

Wonderful! I am looking forward to getting to more comparison videos! So glad to hear the video was helpful! For all the bikes I have reviewed, they Peloton usually is in a league of its own and then the other bikes fall somewhere below. The Velocore is the first that I feel is very much a comparable to Peloton. Both awesome bikes!

Hi Travis, thank you so much this video .I've was hoping that you were going to one day do a review on the Bowflex VeloCore . I got mine last month (1 month ahead of the due date) and so far, am very pleased with it. I decided to buy the Bowflex VeloCore because of the wonderful variety of things I can do while riding. Because I'm not into doing spin classes and I prefer to exercise on my own, I'm happy to be able to just ride and have nice scenery to watch as I exercise. Plus, I love being about to watch movies and shows while I exercise as well. I did have a few problems but nothing that can't be fixed. BTW, I've found Bowflex's Customer Service to be very good. Everyone that I've spoken to have been quite nice and helpful. My major problems have to do with my height. I'm quite petite. 4'9" to be exact. My last bike was a mini derailleur. I loved riding that bike when I was young. It fit me just perfectly. Unfortunately it was stolen many years ago and I never replaced it. Anyways, my husband put the bike together for me and did his best to make the bike seat as low as possible and the handlebars as close to me as it could go. And it helps that I can adjust the screen as well. And like lot of people, I found the seat a bit uncomfortable but I found a great seat cover from Amazon that is nice and cushioned so that problem was quickly solved. My real challenge came with the pedals. My feet didn't rest on the pedals as comfortably as I wanted so my husband cut some blocks of wood and attached them to the petals. It's not perfect but I can ride with ease now. Maybe you could do a video on what things to do for those of us who are short and for parents who want to share their bikes with their children. Thank you again for your review on this bike. I'm looking forward to part 2.

I love your in-depth reviews! I’ve been going back and forth between the Peloton, NordicTrac S22i, and the Bowflex Velocore for quite some time. I do love the option of having trail rides on the S22i, but the longevity of the incline motor has me slightly concerned in the long run. The feature that drew me to the Velocore was the lean mode, and I think that really did trump all the other features for me. Plus, maybe Bowflex will add more scenic content to JRNY to rival some of trail rides found on iFit. Thanks for all the details so I can make an informed decision, looking forward to your part 2! But I think I’m going to go for the Velocore for a more natural ride and core strengthening!

Thank you so much Jonathan! Reading into your comment a bit... I think you made the right choice! I am in the exact same situation. I love the scenic rides of the S22i\iFit platform but if I had to pick, I would still go with the Velocore. Too many other positives and things I like plus I am hopeful that it continues to improve.

When I was looking for a bike I searched ‘Peloton alternatives’ in google. I was trying to choose between MYX, echelon, and nordictrack based on these reviews. Mostly I was looking at MYX as a good lower cost option. I spent more than I wanted on the velocore for leaning mode and versatility of content. I’m sure I’ll love it but wish I discovered your video first!
@Learnwithtravis
@Learnwithtravis 3 жыл бұрын
Of the bikes you mentioned, it would be between the MYX and Velocore for me. From there it would come down to how much I wanted to spend versus the features that worked for me. The Velocore is one of my favorites out of all of them. I think you will like it! Just try not to focus on the cost. You have made your decision so commit and make it happen! It is a really neat bike with so many ways to use it!

@@Learnwithtravis I’ve heard that without a subscription some of the bikes won’t work, or at least are very limited on what they will do. Is that true for the VelCore, Proform Studio and Echelon? I wish I could come up with a hybrid of those three! Pretty sure I would have the perfect bike 😁

@@lilaangel9151 I am in the trial period for Journey which is the subscription server of Velocore, but I am pretty sure once that runs out, the bike will be rather basic. Looking to purchase an Indoor Bike Trainer, and I'm having a tough time figuring out which one to get. I'd be sharing this bike with my husband, but I'd be the primary rider. Some of the things I'd like: wireless connection, spd pedal with cage or plain side, scenic rides, large scene, value membership, good customer service, and instructor lead classes with multiple intensity levels. My original thought was the Peloton Bike+. I look forward to your response. Thank you!
@Learnwithtravis
@Learnwithtravis 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, Peloton Bike+ is probably the easiest answer. They have look delta pedal, not SPD but still a clip-in. Now that they are starting to offer instructor led scenic rides, they probably check the most boxes off for you. Stryde is another option. You lose a few Peloton bells and whistles (Leaderboard, automatic resistance change) but get lower fees and more flexibility. Probably one of those two. Good luck!

I'd be curious to know if the Bowflex subscription is needed in order to stream other content (such as Netflix or Amazon Prime), or if those can be accessed without the subscription. The ability to stream 3rd party contents is a huge plus. The Bowflex C7 Bike (which I think is a Dicks Sporting Goods exclusive model) has a 7" screen where you can stream other content to as well. I wish Peloton, Echelon or NordicTrack would add this feature.

Just ordered the Bowflex VeloCore. #1 thing for me (yes, I know it's silly) is I have to have SPD pedals. There's nothing..nothing better than the float of the SPD and any other kind of pedal kills my knees. #2, I'm not a road biker, never will be so the idea of 'spinning' just sickens me to my core. I'm a Mountain biker. This is as close as you can get to getting a mountain biking feel with a little more mobility with the lean. Since I'm not really a 'spinner,' the superior Peloton spinning content doesn't really appeal to me, but the virtual scenery modes of the BowFlex does. Thanks for the Video!

@@Learnwithtravis This is going to be my first bike I’ve ever purchased. I’ve taken spin classes in the past (very casually...I’m no athlete 🤣). Do you think such a high level bike is even needed for me considering I’m an entry level cyclist? I’ve previewed a few of the Peloton classes, and I really liked the vibe and would like to be able to utilize that platform in whichever bike I purchase. The only reason I was looking at the proform bikes was because of the auto resistance adjustment, but is that something I should even be looking at as a newbie? I think inevitably I will purchase a Peloton down the line, but for now I would like to get something that’s quality yet doesn’t break the bank. I want to make sure I’m in love with the sport before committing fully. Do you have any recommendations or can you recommend any of your videos particularly that would address such things? I appreciate your feedback and all your videos. Thank you! ☺️

@@staceytrudell973 Makes perfect since and I think it is smart to start on a less expensive bike to verify this is something you enjoy and will stick to. I have a lot of videos on stuff like this and there are multiple bikes at different tiers. If we want to still get Peloton content, you can pair various bikes with their Peloton Digital app (Which is a lot cheaper membership too). Starting points could be a Sunny Health and Fitness bike and purchasing your own cadence sensor. A lot of people do this and really enjoy it. Next would the Schwinn IC4. A small step up but has the the cadence sensor built in and a resistance display for pairing to Peloton. After that, the Stryde bike has an attached monitor and a more Peloton feel. Here are some videos to help you out: Peloton Digital: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/nplkZMyCm5jNmKM.html IC4: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/nKxyisKKxqrTYWQ.html Stryde: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/eq9-krqIqNOqc30.html

No problem Sharon! This is just a guess as I have no inside information, but considering this product just came out... I imagine it will be a long time before next gen version is released. I have been very happy with the bike so far. Waiting to see how the repairs go and working with support is to formulate a complete opinion but so far those areas look promising as well. It will be interesting to see where they go with this bike but so far, I think it is a very good bike with a lot of potential. If I didn't run a KZfaq channel and had to pick just one bike, this one would be up as a serious contender.

I decided to get this bike and just wanted to add some comments about weird things I have found. I have had the Velocore for about 3 weeks: -For Canadian owners, you cannot get any music other than Pop or EDM on the Velocore app (JRNY) radio. There is some sort of licensing issue. Since there is no music in the training videos themselves, this is rather limiting unless you want to listen to music from another device. -If you are doing a boot camp type of workout where you get off the bike to do strength training, you will get bumped out of your workout if you are not pedalling for > 5 min. Not a biggie you just need to turn the pedal a couple of times while you are off the bike. Both of these issues are being worked on by their support team.

Awesome review Travis and Merry Christmas to you, your family and your followers. I have a question about the ability to watch/use the apps on this bike. Do you need to have an active subscription in order to play Netflix, Disney etc. ? Would the overlay of workout on Netflix still work if you do not have a sub? Basically I want to be able to do what I want without having the credit card attached. Lots of bikes require the sub to even use your tablet, I hope this does not. Thank you!!

Also, do you have any thoughts about how the Proform s22 compares to the NT s22i? Both bikes seem to be made by companies owned by ICON and Proform bike costs $500 less (without the incline/decline feature). Thanks!

No problem! I will be doing a video that goes more in depth on this as these are my favorite two bikes from the top tier. I would not say the leaning functionality is worth it on its own. I do like it, it adds something to the ride, and it does help you to engage\exercise ecognize your core\arms and get more out of the ride. If you were sold the Peloton Bike+ was the bike for you, I would not switch just because of the lean. Now... when you consider lean mode, AI trainer, streaming services, app pairing, and some of the other functionality, it might be worth it. Both bikes are very high quality... it really comes down to which features you prefer more as they are quite different as far as what they offer. Hope that helps... but hopefully the video will clear this up even more!

@Learnwithtravis
@Learnwithtravis 3 жыл бұрын
I need to play with that more but when I loaded the Peloton ride on Velocore, it says to use a different device to load Peloton. So, you still need another device which is a bummer. Hopefully they make it so the Peloton Digital app is part of their system. So, I actually like both of these bikes quite a bit. They have very different use cases. The Velocore has a UI with a lot of versatility and is a great overall bike. The Stryde is much more budget friendly but has the ability to load many systems if you want to mix it up with different content providers. So, it depends on how you want to use it. I like the Velocore better overall but it is also in a completely different price tier. If you want to mix it up and go between Peloton, iFit, and other options... I would suggest Stryde. If you want everything in one user interface and a little bit better bike with lean, Velocore.

I really enjoy watching your videos, although now I’m more conflicted as to which bike to go with. I almost wish I could just buy the Peloton bike and use iFit on it for the scenic rides. Is that even possible? I just want a bike with the smoothest ride, less problems (or at least having those problems resolved quickly), and the capability of doing scenic rides and studio classes.
@Learnwithtravis
@Learnwithtravis 3 жыл бұрын
So, most bikes have scenic rides but they are simply footage of very neat locations. iFit has instructor led scenic rides which is much nicer so the first thing I would ask yourself is which version of scenic rides do you want? If iFit, the S22i is an option that a lot of people have really enjoyed but obviously comes with some risk. There is the new Proform but I have not tested that. If you want the best bike (IMO) and scenic rides that are not instructor led, the Peloton would be a great option. In the middle, the Stryde is a neat option. It is a quality bike that I have enjoyed and has an attached monitor. The neat part is they allow you to load your own apps. So you can swap between iFit, Peloton, KZfaq, and other streaming services. Might be worth taking a look as it offers a lot of flexibility. Hope that helps!

Do you feel like it has a decent lineup of class options and that they’re quality? So, Peloton is the gold standard when it comes to quality and content. JRNY does not have nearly as much content but I expect that to grow over time. As far as quality goes, it is not at a Peloton level, but I thought it was very good. If Peloton is a 5 out of 5, most other bikes would have content come in at around a 3 out of 5. I would say Journey is in that 3.5 to 4 range which is pretty good. Of course, this depends on what type of content you like and if you relate to it.

Hey Joe! The main difference I noticed is that the S22i was better at making rides feel more realistic. Going up and down hills, more enjoyable scenic rides, more realistic following instructors... but I didn't feel like it did much to the quality of the exercise. Velocore was the opposite. It did not add that much to the experience, but it enhanced the quality of exercise. When leaning you engage your arms, core, back, and more which I think a lot of people could really benefit from. So it is sort of a enjoyment versus quality of exercise comparison for me. Hope that helps and whatever you decide to with works out well for you!

I will try to include that in part 2 or create a quick dedicate video detailing using "other programs" with velocore.

I am very new to Zwift but I believe you can get some pretty advanced setups going. I am not 100 percent sure the Velocore would be the option for you. Probably better options if you want to go full Zwift and make sure every feature is fully utilized.

As a cyclist i've was really interested to see the lean feature as is seems the best case scenario for the lean would be for when you stand out of the saddle and you can swing the handlebars side to side like on an actual bike. When your standing and pedaling it is more efficient to swing the bike from side to side rather than swing your body. Did you notice this to be the case at all?
@Learnwithtravis
@Learnwithtravis 3 жыл бұрын
Sorry for the delay. Honestly, I usually stay in saddle when leaning. I am taller and top heavy so I notice when I am out of the saddle it does not feel as controlled. I did a quick test and when leaning my whole body to a side, it starts to feel a little unstable. Not terrible, but with my size I am really leaning a lot of weight out there. I did find that if I was out of saddle but moved the bike side to side and did slight leans, it was not bad. Less locked in and requires to you to stabilize your body more and mimic a road bike experience more. Hope that helps!

Yup. They replaced the entire bike (Minus Tablet) and that did not fix it. When I told them that, they shipped me a new tablet and it fixed things. They were very easy to work with and basically sent me an entire new bike to make sure the problem was resolved.

How easy is it to ride off the saddle in position 3 on the Velocore. Definitely don't know if you have this in your lineup but I would love if you can review the SOUL CYCLE at Home Bike in hardware and also how it compares to content against the Peloton. Soul cycle is using Stages SC1 as their manufacture for the Bike would be a good review. Thanks Again !

Hey there I’m going to purchase a Velocore bike. I can buy a16” used however I really want the 22” screen. In your opinion is there much difference? Thank you
@Learnwithtravis
@Learnwithtravis 2 жыл бұрын
Hello. I have not used the 16 inch version but I believe it is basically the same bike, just smaller screen. That being said, I like the larger monitors because they are more immersive with that larger screen in front of you, but the 16 will still more than get the job done. Honestly, I think it depends on how much money you are saving.

@@Learnwithtravis Thanks for the reply!! They want $1200. I figure no tax saves too. Your thoughts?
@Learnwithtravis
@Learnwithtravis 2 жыл бұрын
@@JL-kr4jd My pleasure. That is tough. That is a lot of money saved for what would be close to the same experience. My gut wants to say, go with the 16. But exercise equipment is tricky. I don't want you to get this model and instantly question how much more you would enjoy the bigger screen and then not take advantage of what you did get. Short version, if you think you can be happy with the 16 inch model and not question your purchase, save that money. If you think that might be always in the back of your head, get the bigger screen if that is what will get you to take advantage of your purchase. Hope that makes sense!
