Impressive. Love innovators. I'll hopefully be able to buy one in the near future. Not a huge fan of the aesthetic. An Old School cast iron look would be cool. Similar issue with the plexi. Form must never come before function though. And this is extremely functional.

Hey Andy. Can you give an update on the pre-sale production/delivery schedule?
@cschlater4 жыл бұрын
Most impressive. I'm giving you a link to a paper about c-gears. Not suggesting you actually should implement them in the vise. But as food (read candy) for your thoughts. My guess is that c-gears would give the vise a permanent stealth mode of silence, almost no play and prolong the expected lifetime fom 150 years to at least 400 years. The major draw back is the greater cost of production. But, who knows? Someone might be struck by a lightning while at sleep and have a heureka moment. I've gotto share some more thoughts. Ever since I first saw your vice with high and low speed modes, I've been thinking: it has to be possible to develope some kind of cvt transmission, that always gives high speed when the resistance is low and raises the torque with increasing resistance. My guess is that it has to involve some flex in the jaws so the jaws doesn't comes to a sudden stop as they normaly are on vises. My brain can only think complex thoughts short periods at a time before it fogs up. I guess yours are working (fine) 24/7. Coming up in a few days on my channel. A tip on how the hobbyist (and others) cheap and easy can flatten the grinding surface on the wheels on your bench grinder.

Been watching the vice come to life since i started woodworking . Your invention is like a operational piece of Art and I'm almost done with my work bench and will be needing to order your 20'' vise soon . I was going to have the gears powder coated anyway due to the salt in the air where i live causes things to rust faster ,do you have enough of your tarnished gears left to make a vise? After being powder coated the tarnish would never be seen anyway and would be easier to blast and coat ?I'm not looking for a discount just thought it might help rid you of some unwanted inventory that you may be stuck with.

How does the pivot affect the vise's 'fast' speed, does it stay aligned and allow you to quickly open/close just as easily as the normal way of mounting it? Maybe it's a dumb question, but without feeling it, I would guess that it might come out of alignment when there's not workpiece between the jaws.
@AndrewKleinWW4 жыл бұрын
No effect on speed, and when you aren’t using it the swivel locks down so it won’t come out of alignment and just works like the vise without the swivel.
