A very DUMMY solution to the Nikon Z30 overheating problem...

In this video, I go over the couple different ways to power your Nikon Z30 while also trying to stop the overheating issue. After having this camera for over a year, I've tested so many different ways to keep this from overheating after 45 minutes. In this video, I discuss three of the proposed solutions one from Nikon one through products and one that really just works but shouldn't. Let me know in the comments what ideas you have!

Thanks alot of creators have gotten rid of the camera for this issue. I appreciate that you are still covering this camera and gear that can be used to augment battery life.

I’m sure a lot of people got mad. I think as a sub 800 camera this the Z30 can do a bunch if paired with the right gear

@MatsuXL its webcam, its for photos and videos. Plus, the nikkon colors out the box are hard to replicate on another camera. My only compliant would be 4k battery life. If they had an update to fix that. I would put my phone away and focus on just the camera. But using both will do for now. But i dont mind 1080 p and a good battery bank. The visuals dont change much from what I see.Thanks for the reply.

I have no Idea why would Nikon sell a "VLOG CAMERA" that u can't film longer than 12 minutes otherwise it overheats... Well I was about to return it or sell but now I will try this Mounty Battery. Thanks for your video

I'm probably one of the few Z30 users to mainly use it for stills, but to get around the heating issue I think they should have gone down the route Fuji did with the X-S20 by adding two threading inserts where a fan mounts.

I like to bring my Z30 when I’m really just trying to be very minimalistic. It’s perfect for like Disney trips and stuff where I really just wanna kind of run and gun.

Any issues with overheating? I just had mine overheat via USB power delivery 3 times on a 2 hour long stream (1080p 60fps)

What firmware are you running? I noticed with updating to firmware 1.11 I’ve had severe issues in 4k. 1080p 60 hasn’t been noticed yet

Great video, thanks for the info. I was looking information about the same problem and sadly nothing worth, but if you have tried with this new dummy battery then I will do the same. Another question I wanted to ask is, have you experienced any issues with the image in the camera? I mean, when I plug in to 4k video, the camera image is showing some white points but only in 4k. Is this normal? Any idea what is this about? Thank you man. And one more thing, could you please write the name of this newer dummy battery?

This is the Neewer NEEWER VP-EP5G EN-EL25 to D Tap Dummy Battery In regards to the 4K and spots chances are when you’re recording in 4K your sensor may be dirty. You only see it in 4K because you are actually recording in a bigger range of pixels on the sensor versus in 1080 you only using a part of the sensor. I would recommend getting a blower to clean your sensor or a cleaning tool.

Tbh I think what’s your goal long term? I think Sony is best with video but Nikon is best Photos

I've been using my Z 30 at least once every week the last few months, recording 4K 30p, PD power, 1-2 hr nonstop, no overheating.

Consider yourself lucky. I’ve constantly overheated 4k30 every 40-45 minutes

@@MatsuXL Actually I'm not sure about my claim anymore, I just realized I only just switched to 4K recently. Also, for added disclosure, it's outdoors where it was often windy.

Amazing video! So, in total, how much are you able to record non-stop? More than 8 hours? I really want to buy a Z30, but those overheating issues makes me really worried, since I record dance presentations that, sometimes, are over 12 hours long! Best regards from Brazil 🇧🇷

I think it’s all going to depend on your size of battery and memory card! Question I have is how long would your “longest take” be? Not consistent 12 hours right?

Entao amigo, eu to pra comprar essa bateria pra teste porque eu amei a z30 mas estou extremamente frustrado com o aquecimento e duração da bateria. Galera fala em vários vídeos que são 45 minutos mas nem isso é, as vezes em 12 minutos já ta pegando fogo. Eu comprei não tem nem dois meses e já to pensando em vender, vou decidir se testo essa bateria ou vendo.

So the other day, I was an 80° weather outside and recorded an hour and a half nonstop with no issues whatsoever. 4k30 direct sunlight no shade. Just thought I’d give you an update.

Hola. Tengo la Z30 pero se calienta en 5min 😢 Compré una falsa batería en Aliexpress y sigue el problema. Tanto como webcam o grabando video, el sobrecalentamiento de la cámara ocurre 😢

Mi espanol is muy mal so compromiso… Por eso, en primer lugar, dudaba tanto en comprar una batería falsa. Elegí la marca Neewer porque la he usado en el pasado y confío en sus productos. Lo que encontré como alternativa es mantener la cámara en 1080p y me durará horas cuando use el método de alimentación USB.

Does this camera lets you to pause and resume video recording?

You cannot pause a recording and have it pick up on the same file. It will create two separate files

I bought the same dummy battery and it still overheats. Honestly, this camera is a huge let down. Really wish I would have gone with a sony or cannon.
