@paddyphilipryan Thats an odd contribution to this debate. As I have already said..he can kick a bit. So its little wonder he is 4th highest point scorer. Its because he has had an automatic right to the number 10 jersey many years at the expense of emerging talent who were never given half the chances he was given. The problem with ROG is that his other abilities at no 10 fall far short than expected at international level. But Munster supporters choose to ignore this.

He hasn't retired. Said that in the emotion of what was an incredible interview. Just injured now for the Autumn Internationals. Will be in Six Nations squad again in February no doubt

This is coming from an Ulsterman do there isn't any bias here but I do believe that Sexton is the better player. As good as O'Gara's kicking is (especially from hand) Sexton is a more complete player and his kicking is also very, very good for Leinster but for some reason it hasn't quite happened for Ireland. It's not nerves, his best performances even have been in HC finals.

BTW O'Gara's defence is nowhere near as bad as made out to be and to be fair he does have more to his game than kicking. Sexton is still the way forward though.

@gary10808 I fear his defense is every bit as bad and worse.... as it is made out to be. He just does not defend. He has had his day and successes and I wish him well. I just wish Ireland had a more adapt no 10 over the past 10 years.

ROG only had right to no.10 because he was and is still so good it wasn't has fault that everyone else was crap until now,with out him irish rugby would be nowhere as near as good as it is now.Yes Johnny sexton is a good player but who is better under pressure? ROG is ,and in a tough match the person who will win you the game is the one who is good under pressure , ROG is also unreal at drop goals , and even though he is small he always put 110% into his tackles i think he is better then sexton

@knacker3000 r u serious???? its not like he scored 4 tries in the grand slam (drico). it was drico who won it and he got the drop goal in the england game that won it for us when rog missed 4 relatively easy kicks. he almost lost it for us. he is only good at kicking and is world class at tactical kicking but thats it. sexto can do so much more. his only fault is his game management but he is exciting and reliable. the world cup ball brought down his rep and rog played shit against us last week

@paddyphilipryan I was born in Dublin but have lived in Wales since 1991. Rugby was never my game growing up, it was GAA. I got into rugby when I came to Wales. I follow the Irish team and have made a point of going to the Millenium stadium to watch both Munster and Leinster in HC finals. The only bias I see in Irish rugby is regarding O'Gara's automatic selection. He is not and never has been world class. He cannot tackle nor take a tackle for goodness sake. How can he be world class ?

I would like to add that I have no problems with any other Munster player for Ireland. I admire the qualities of O'Connell, OCallaghan and Peter Stringer. I also believe Earls is a quite good. I believe Stringer was unfairly scapegoated for O'Gara's inept displays in the 2007 world cup. Another typical example of the favouritism shown to O'Gara repeatedly over the years. O'Gara is an average outside half....no better than average. And you can quote all the statistics you want.

In hindsight ....what a clown sabotaged the 2011 WC for ireland not being a team player for us and accepting the bench role with dignity
