I totally understand what you meant about making a conscious effort to be present in your relationship, because like you said it can be so easy to disconnect and end up breaking up. With relationships when we’re younger psychologically we more often than not transfer the parent/child relationship on to our partners. So that’s why we have anxiety when they leave or when we’re on our own. So the vital element is to live alone or with non dependant flatmates FIRST, before moving in with a romantic partner. Alternately, if it’s too late for that we need to accept the fact that we see our partners as a parent/child and learn how to navigate that. Which it seems like you’ve done brilliantly 💛
