I didn't expect to see a Beetle in a Jeep VHS!
This tape is in sad shape. Mold had started to grow on the reels, and made the tape stick to itself. It snapped just after the leader when I tried to play it the first time. I took the tape apart and repaired the break, but it snapped 2 more times as I was winding the reels manually! It snapped again as I was rewinding it. Thankfully it got through one play OK.

I had one of those, great little truck that I inherited from my father. Sadly it was totaled by an old man in a minivan. I replaced it with a year old Cherokee that had about 23,000 miles on it. It's twenty years and about 600,000 miles later and I still have the Cherokee.

How is the jeep now?
@JeffDeWitt
@JeffDeWitt 2 жыл бұрын
@@elijahjohnson5872 It's doing fine. My daily driver was in the shop for a week and I drove the old Jeep back and forth to work, (100 miles a day) no problem. A couple of weeks ago I took it on a little road trip, drove it about 300 miles that day, longest drive in one day since driving it Illinois and Michigan in 2015. In the spring I'm planning on taking it on a drive around North Carolina's Outer Banks, one thing I've never done in it.

What year is it? That is awesome! Does that Cherokee still have the original motor and transmission?
@JeffDeWitt
@JeffDeWitt Жыл бұрын
@@oof4dayz It's a 96. The engine was replace with an excellent rebuilt one about 300k ago (and I've been a LOT more careful about oil changes since). Transmission is original and it's on it's third clutch.

@@JeffDeWitt That is awesome, I have a 2000 Cherokee Classic with 4x4, it has the Toyota-made AW4 transmission and the straight 6, both original but mine still only has 135k miles on it.

AMC Baby ! The XJ (4.0L)is one of the best vehicles ever made. My 1987 compact Wagoneer Limited was great for 22 years, got hit by a red light runner and so I bought a 2000 Cherokee Sport. 35" BFG Mud's ,7 inch lift, Lockers, Dana 44 rear from my 1987 XJ, Still driving it and I will always own an XJ. My 1991 MJ Comanche Eliminator 4.0L 4x4 is just about ready for the road again. At some point these jeeps will need to be restored to keep them on the road. My 2012 Grand Cherokee Limited 33" muds, Looks cool but I don't trust it like my older AMC family of jeeps, Owned 1995 Wrangler 4 cyl 4x4,1987 Compact Wagoneer Limited 4x4 select trac,1993 Grand Cherokee 5.2L V8 4x4, 2000 Grand Cherokee Limited 4.7L V8 2WD, 2005 Grand Cherokee Limited 5.7L Hemi Quadra-drive II ,2012 Grand Cherokee Limited 3.6L quadra-drive I 4x4, And My Never sell , 2000 Cherokee Sport Selct-trac full time 4x4 4.0L NAXJA Member since the early 90's

My brothers Comanche has been customized for rock crawling and it can go mudding but man does it overheat quickly. And when it does it's probably 110 to 140 degrees in the cab and about 240 plus in the engine. And yes it has a working fan and I'm pretty sure the radiator works good as well.

An oil can in 1989? Either that was old footage or they were using up old stock, because the industry had almost entirely switched to plastic bottles by the late '80s.
