I love your expression, Melody. … And no matter at least five time, twenty, sixty - well - as long it takes until the slam dunk take. I’m a singer/musician myself. Recording is a special thing - and always brings a brutal truth. But that Truth always shines good when it’s "there", the Version in a recording

I know EXACTLY what you meant by "black and white ... technicolor". I was in choral and concert choir in high school and it was ...fun. the voices were okay, and the music was pretty, but it was kind've plodding if you get my meaning. And then I was lucky enough to audition and make it into my state's "All State Classical Vocals". It's high schoolers from all across the state that are chosen as the best of the best. Sorry, a bit off track. Anyway, I was honored to be chosen and I learned the music before the gathering and group practice, but I was expecting more of the same "high school experience". NO, SIR. From the first group warmup, the conductor taught us a specific harmony in quasi-sectionals and then combined us back together. The thunderous (not loud, but deeeep) basses were nearly shaking the room, while the sopranos and tenors generated an overtone like bells in the rafters, and the altos posted a strong but sweet anchor to the melody. ...it was like standing in a waterfall of harmony. It was beautiful. It's the most beautiful thing I ever heard.

As an aspiring artist and video editor, and with intermediate piano skills and perfect pitch (thank you high school music & band), I was left speechless when I saw the virtual choir. It was so beautiful. Despite not being as great at vocalizing music as playing or analyzing it, this inspied me so much in a short time that I might actually try my hand at fine tuning my vocal skills just to have an extra skill on hand, not to mention continuing my video editing skills. Coming back to this video as an inspiring way to connect to other performers now that we're so isolated from one another with theatres, concert halls, and ballets being closed due to COVID-19. It's hard as performers not to be able to perform - but if live performances are postponed for a while, at least Eric Whitacre gave us a beautiful model of how to still connect with each other and an audience.

I cried... Not from just the beauty, or the sound, but because these people took a moment of their time, and their talent, to create a completed masterpiece with 2,000 others. Those beating hearts.... Dreams, hopes, achievements, all entwined in one song. I feel negative recently, there is much tension and negativity. I got goosebumps, and I discovered a refreshed hope for the direction we've been heading.

In band for our spring concert we played the wind ensemble adaption of Lux Arumque, and while it wasn't nearly as exciting as some of the stuff we were used to playing, it was so beautiful. The amount of emotion that can be put through an ensemble (even a small one like ours) is incredible. That piece was just pure emotion, peace, a sort of silent beauty. I love it so much.

I'm imagining it. One day, we will finally mature as we release the idea of these imaginary boundaries that we have been using to separate ourselves from one another. I'm also imagining the advanced technology that we will spawn which will allow any and all of humanity to connect in real time to collaborate on an ultimate moving project like this one. How about a virtual symphony, or a virtual painting or any virtual all-inclusive artistic project. It's fun to think about.
