Auburn Mall. A classic vintage neon dream in the hills of Maine. Our last mall that we've covered in Maine, with sweeping blanket coverage over the state. Let's go mall walking one more time in Maine.

Love that polished brick flooring, not something you see anymore but I think it's quite attractive and it brings back memories for me.

I used to frequent this mall as a kid. The old arcade, the pretzel shop, working at the JCP for a few years. Sad to see it dead but I have so many fond memories of crowded shopping trips, going to DEB to find dresses for school dances, having lunch at Thatchers or McD’s before looking at rings at the jewelry store across from it. Burning your nose with all the scents at Bath & Body… The cringe pictures of Easter trips or Christmas Santa visits. Good times

As a 58-year-old with family in Maine, I find this to be a magical 1970s mall.

That main mall entrance gives me Kmart vibes. Love all the neon here.

Kmart is across the street and is closed and is being converted to a Target

TBH compared to a lot of malls on your channel, the Auburn Mall is looking ok. I grew up about an hour away and it was such a treat to go there as a kid. The Lewiston Mall has gone down *hard* just in the last 10 years. 15 years ago it was a little more lively (barely).

I remember buying a Kama Sutra book from Books-A-Million about 10 years ago. It has served me well. Oh man, The Trapeze, The Windmill, I never forgot any of it. Anyways, yay books!!

I've been to this mall once. It's a nice small mall. I remember when my family took me there to the arcade. This mall reminds me of the Chambersburg Mall in Pennsylvania before it shut down for good. JCPenney is sadly theonly department store in this mall.

The last big mall in central Maine. Maine Mall in South Portland is still doing well.

Many sweaters were bought from GAP lunch at McDonald's and sneakers from finishline. I had friends down form Canada once and when I went to work they were able to spend a whole day there and not be bored. The memories

I saw The Empire Strikes Back as well as Return Of The Jedi at The Auburn Mall when those were released. The video game arcade was exceptional back then. We would sometimes ride our bikes there when skipping school.

Never seen a ‘green’ Claire’s before .. that’s unusual... not a fan of those odd hexagonal blue lights.. the neon is cool but those lights seem a bit random.....

I pass this mall a lot on my way to my grandmas house they are not that busy anymore yet my favorite stores are closed forever

"the last big mall in Maine" ?? Have you not been to The Maine Mall in So. Portland?? A much larger mall than Auburn.

The interior is very 70's, but that "Auburn Mall" signage screams late 80's/early 90's

Perhaps that is where the renovations came into the picture

The signs were built in 1992 in the renovation that year, and was painted a light blue color, with blue tones on the posts under the awnings. They were repainted with tan on the signs, and brown for the post under the awnings in 2005.

In your opening walkthrough you mention this was the second mall in the area. technically there was the Lewiston mall and across the street there was the Promenade Mall which had Bradlees, Bonanza restaurant, Shaws, Service Merchandise and the Twin Cinemas. I saw Smokey and The bandit there in 1977. I bought my baseball bats at Bradlees and the Lewiston Mall across the street from Burger King had Zayre's and Radio Shack as well as a record store called Record Town.
