A Visit to Gien, Franne - During our classic cruise aboard hotel barge Renaissance in the Upper Loire & Western Burgundy we visit Gien. Gien is world famous for its faïence, or glazed ceramic pottery. Since 1821 Gien has taken inspiration from the great china-making traditions of Italian Renaissance, Japan, China and 18th century France. But it also has created many original designs.
