Welcome to a visit to the World’s first multi-terminal ±800 kV 6000 MW HVDC station at Agra.
Built by BHEL in collaboration with ABB for PGCIL, this multi-terminal HVDC station is a "receiving" or inverter station in Agra where clean hydroelectric power transmitted via UHVDC lines from India's northeast region, (Biswanath Chariali-Assam and Alipurduar-West Bengal to the city of Agra Uttar Pradesh, a distance of 1,728 km.) is converted back into AC for distribution to end users.
There are four terminals in three converter stations with a 33 percent continuous overload rating, enabling an 8,000 MW conversion - one of the most powerful HVDC transmission system ever built. There is also a provision for reversal of power flow from Agra to North-East - Bidirectional Power Flow Capability.
