I love your tone through the sound system. Do you know what kind of Microphone you played through ? Or anything else like a preamp, effect, Direct input involved for that live performance. Amazing playing and tone. All the best

What mandolin are you playing on here? It sounds fantastic!

Thank you so much. The mandolin is Martin style 20 from 1930s.

I am looking for an excellent mandolin for chamber music. I was wondering if you think bowlback mandolins or flatback mandolins are a better option. To my ear, the bowlbacks normally don't have as sweet a sound. Do you think bowlbacks have an advantage in projection? I play mainly classical music and at the moment I have an eastman A-style oval hole which I quite like the sound of but I am trying to find something with more volume, but keeping a sweet round tone. I have found someone making a kerman style mandolin but the maker thinks his special bowlback is more powerful. I know it is always best to go and try but it is a little difficult for me and it is hard to judge based on recordings alone. What is your experience with different types of mandolins?

@@johncarter1108 I also had a bowlback Suzuki mandolin. Of course their sounds are different. I like Martin's sweet sound more. But Suzuki is not a very professional mandolin. I haven't had a good quality bowlback mandolin. However, the volume of Martin mandolin is also not very high. I've heard that Kerman mandolins have more volume, but I've never used them. However, I think the type of mandolin is not the only thing that affects the sweetness of the sound. The string and pick are also important. I use flatwound Thomastic strings and I use buffalo horn pick or tortoiseshell pick about 0,6 mm thickness.

@@BulentYazici Thank you so much for your reply! Unfortunately we don't have so many possibilities to try mandolins here in Denmark. Keep up the wonderful mandolin playing! Best regards, John
