Fascinating stuff Ryan.. I'm old school and was in the motor trade in the 1960'/70's before ECU's etc. I'm trying to catch up on modern vehicle diagnosis so I can have some sort of an idea what might go wrong in my vehicle .. To be frank, if you were down here in the South West, I wouldn't bother , I'd just call you. Brilliant mate.

Ivan showed the way to recognise if current going thrue the wire. Amp clamp over it. If current present then problem farther down. Potentially can save wire cut. Great job as always. New subscruber here. Hello from Peterborough

About 18 months ago, a neighbour had a problem with the washer pump leaking profusely & was quoted £80+VAT (that she didn't have) by the dealer to replace it. I got a new pattern pump online for £15 & did the swap in about 30 minutes (had to pull the arch liner back quite a way to get access). When I took the old pump out, I repaired it using hot glue & put it in the new pump box for her to keep as a spare, just in case. The new pump worked perfectly for a few months until it started to have problems like the Polo. I told my neighbour to dig the old one out & I would refit it to use whilst I got a replacement for the faulty one. She couldn't remember where she had put it & hasn't mentioned it since, so I don't know if the pump rectified itself or she just puts up with it!

Hi. For future reference do you offer component repair by post? For example, the Mercedes OM642 are prone to turbo actuator failure, three broken wires on the circuit board that can be repaired by someone skilled. Mercedes fix is to fit new turbo and actuator. Is a repair like this something you would consider by post? Same with the glow plug module.

Thanks for the video bud. So basically pin one (short to ground) is hooked onto the negative of the bulb. And thw way you tested that was to connect the +ve side of the bulb , to the +ve ofthe battery.. This completes the circuit making it light up? Would it also work if you did it the opposite way. As the short to ground is acting as a +ve? So if you connected pin 1 to the +ve lead of the bulb. Then connecting to -ve of the battery, would that make it light up too.

had the issue with a 12plate 6r mk5 loom failure at boot gasket , rear heated window wire had fused itself with some other wires in loom . which caused wiper motor wiper washer headlight and all manner of things going a bit supernatural day before 2022s mot . just this morning same car im on the front drivers door control modulator return signal too low implausible . central locking 🙃 gremlins in the matrix thank the accountants who build the cars now and not the engineers 😉edit just found the old logs for the harness issue this is how it read using foxwell nt 500 old box of tricks 01331 door control module Driver side sporadic 004 no signal/ communication 03430 terminal 30 for turn signal brake lights sporadic open circuit 03396 supply voltage terminal 30 for central locking sporadic 011 open circuit 00975 heated rear window(z1) sporadic 006 short to plus 00975 rear window (z1) sporadic 01 2_ electrical fault 01332 door control module passenger side j387 sporadic 04 no signal 01331 door control module drivers side sporadic 04 no signal /communication 01309 steering control module 04 no signal . if anyone has taken time to read thank you , this diagnostic info is from 2yrs back and was the result of a cooked heated window . it affected everything the wipers motor and washer offside headlamp . the symptoms at first without diagnosing was bad wiper motor and bad stalks it was none of that just the cooked harness and corresponding fuses . having a decent indepth knowledge helps but ive not the patience for that .i seem to a magnet for the hardway 😎

13:47 - That's a rubbish repair? You should have seen what was on my door loom hinge when the wires broke... household terminal block wrapped in sellotape. That's how you are meant to repair it! I took it out... cut ALL the wires at both ends and then replaced every single wire with Olflex cable, soldered and then adhesive shrink on top. I really don't get why some people cut corners.
