I had one and kept it for a long time. Replaced the roof lining,headlights,side window rubbers,and many many more parts like the springs but of after all the money I spent I just couldn’t stop the oil leaks. Wherever I parked there was spotting on the tarmac. Finally a young lad bought it. Good riddance. I won’t miss it. Never again. I also have a new set of beige carpets should anyone wish them

Do you know if those bull bars are legal? I have a similar one on mine but concerned I’m going to have to take it off. Google isn’t giving me any clear answers.
@TheNorthernExplorer2 жыл бұрын
I think they are legal on cars over a certain age. As some came from the factory with them. I have never had any issues with mine so I would say if you have a discovery 1 I wouldn’t worry
@gregreed4028 ай бұрын
I see you said that you stand on the roof rack ,how are the roof guttering handling that . Did you know that where the rook rack brackets connect to the gutters they will break the roof gutter seal and and water will get in and the rest is history. I had a 1991 Nissan safari absolutely mint then I put a roof rack on and fixed it to the gutters. Yeap it cranked the sealant and the entire roof rusted out 😢. I had to sell it , it would cost $4 to 5000 bucks to repair and there was no guarantee that the rust was down in to the door pillars .
@TheNorthernExplorer8 ай бұрын
The roof is strong enough to take a good bit of weight, I get what you mean but the roof rack holds a roof tent and 2 adults with no problems. I have checked the seals and no cracking so far, the rack has been on a good few years

very nice car and great video! how hard was it to fit the disco 2 cupholders? because although i havent done greater distances in mine yet since i first have to get rid of a lot of rust, i already know that the stock ones will annoy me pretty soon.

Nice! What about a coolant level sensor?
@TheNorthernExplorer Жыл бұрын
Thanks Nuno! To be honest I’ve never really thought about it, I look after the coolant system, it’s had new radiator, water pump and expansion tank so should be okay, I always watch the temp gauge and never let it get hot. To be fair here in England the engine runs pretty cold anyway and never gets past halfway on the gauge
@NunoMartins_01 Жыл бұрын
But you may have a coolant leak, for example on the heat radiator and when you notice it may bee too late. A coolant level sensor gives us peace of mind. :)
@TheNorthernExplorer Жыл бұрын
@@NunoMartins_01 very true but I do check it regularly. Maybe in the future I’ll look into it

Have you replaced the o ring on the cyclone breather through the side of the head, this could be your oil leak problem?

Is the radiator standard or performance?
@TheNorthernExplorer2 жыл бұрын
The radiator is a brand new standard, the 300tdi is quite a cool engine and especially in the uk where we don’t get hot temps. If the engine was highly tuned I’d maybe think about an upgrade but a standard is good enough
